    I just purchased a 2020 TRDPro (why, oh why, is this my first ever Tundra? I love this thing!). Anyway, I have the factory JBL audio. It works great *except* for phone calls. The calls cut in and out so bad that I cannot have a conversation with anyone and that is functionality that I *MUST* have. I'm connected via cord into Apple Carplay. I had an "expert" tell me it's either the amp or the in-dash speaker. That sounds a little "off" to me but I have zero experience with car audio. If it was the amp or the one speaker, why would it be cutting in and out only happen on phone calls? The amp alone is $1600. I hate to replace it if it doesn't, in-fact, correct the issue. Any tips or advise? Has anyone else experienced this? FWIW, I have used my same phone in multiple other vehicles without any problem so it's definitely something specific to my Tundra. I have also tried a different cable.

    I have searched the threads and didn't find anything specifically related to the phone issue so I apologize if this is addressed somewhere. I can't imagine I am the only one having this issue.

    Updating the head unit was easy and cleared everything up for me. Also, if your using a newer Iphone and connecting via a cable make sure the it the right type that can pass data as well, some just charge and have issues with data piece. I'm going to throw that wireless adapter on the Marketplace soon as I upgraded my truck and don't need it any more so let me know if you're interested. Bought it towards the end of last year and worked well https://www.amazon.com/OTTOCAST-Wireless-CarPlay-Adapter-U2-AIR/dp/B09Q65SX47

    @hudrock
    I appreciate the info! Did you replace the H/U altogether or update the firmware? I am open to any and all options that will fix this for me. My phone is iPhone14 and the cables shouldn't be an issue as I have used them in multiple vehicles with Carplay. Next steps for me are to update the firmware. If that doesn't fix it, I might try the wireless adapter. I truly appreciate the offer of yours but I have a sense of urgency to get this resolved.

    My last couple of calls on CarPlay was doing the same. But it was fine on Bluetooth. Haven’t had time to dig deeper yet.

    The Firmware update fixed everything for me and it's easy, just follow the directions. If I remember correctly you need an USB thats FAT 32 formatted. It's a software issue that stared happening after a CP update a couple years ago. The H/U firmware isn't something that gets updated over the air and I don't think most dealers do it either.....no replacing the H/U required.

    Yeah it's a CarPlay H/U software issue....your internal Bluetooth connection should work fine for calls and you will only experience the issues going through CP.
