12V systems hardware2.jpg My 16 Tundra had been blowing the 7.5A "AM2" fuse. Started about 4 months ago. I would replace the fuse and be on my way and the truck would start and run. Then, it started blowing them more frequently, so we replaced the starter with an OEM. Much quieter, but then it took about a month and the fuses blew again, culminating in not being able to keep a fuse at all, even without trying to start the truck.

About 4.5 years ago, I installed a remote start system from 12Vsolutions.com. Seemed to work good and I was really happy with it, until now. I decided to remove that system today and the fuse no longer blew. So my only guess is that the module (wireless component?) that has the word "VOXX" on it, is likely toast. After removing it, the fuse no longer blows and the truck starts. So something about that system was majorly defective. Can't get the company on the phone at all (tried all day) and there seems to be nothing online about these things failing in this way. But I can say that if this item was going to fail, it should simply stop responding and no longer auto-start the truck. How it feeds back into that AM2 circuit is a mystery, but when it fails, it should definitely not cause issues like this....

    Hope this helps someone.

Man, I've been trying to get tech help from them for the past couple of months after ordering the cell phone module. Finally heard back from them, but customer service is not great. Shame.

I would put in a case with them thru their support email. 12volt.solutions is the address, I believe.

It’s all relative I guess. I came here expecting to read about fried ECUs…

Glad you figured it out. If I were you - I’d move on and not waste any more time on the issue.

Nope never did...after it fried like that, I decided not to use another remote start, although I did enjoy the convenience of it.

It put my truck out of commission for days and it might have cost me thousands to have the toyota dealer troubleshoot and fix it... So I just tried to keep it simple and remove the whole system. The mechanics who work on the car for me were so I'm busy that they couldn't have gotten here for days after that. And then they didn't know what was wrong either.

So I just took matters into my own hands and removed the whole darn thing:(

I appreciate the follow up. I will look for another vendor and save this as a reminder.

    Good luck!

I just removed mine the other day too. I bought the app module and could never get it to work. I did finally get some tech help, but got no progress to the point where I think the remote start module burned up or bricked itself. I couldn't reset it to factory calibration and my battery died during this time, which was just too coincidental for me. Once I took it off and ran the truck for a while to recharge the battery, all has been fine.

Now that it's a secondary vehicle, I'm not too worried about having remote start on it. If I do another one, it'll be compustar or a different brand.
