Gots me some fancy pants clutch juice. My buddy should be here in a few hours so we can bleed the clutch and hopefully fix Donut. I'm trying to think of the name of those little silver heat deflector blankets but I'm drawing a blank. I need those or some header wrap.

That one LEO who mentioned, "I'm glad it didn't happen over there, with all those people", there's some backstory there. We've been having a lot of issues lately with GSP and high speed pursuits. No less than a couple bystanders have gotten killed (in separate incidents) locally due to high speed chases through populated areas. There's a lot of uproar around ATL Metro about it at the moment. APD is usually extremely good about it and will pull back in dangerous situations, put a bird up in the sky and track aerial. GSP doesn't.

This reminds me, when I started my 2hr drive home from the job in north GA yesterday evening, I turned on my blower full blast and heard some stuff rattling around in there. I need to go down and drop the blower motor at some point today to see what I can see.

Truck needs a good clean, wash and probably wax while I'm at it.

Local LEO have started pursuing motorcyclist here. Not sure what changed, but there have been several pursuits a week.

I think a pack of police vehicles travelling at high speeds is way more dangerous than whatever saftey violation the motorcyclist allegedly committed.

I'm far from an expert, but put a few detectives on identifying and charging no plate riders or something? Don't make the solution worse than the problem.

Ah but if the perp knows you won't pursue what's his incentive to obey? You say "put a few detectives on identifying and charging no plate riders" but how are you going to do that if you can't pursue? No plates on the bike so no ID there and the rider's wearing a full helmet so no facial rec/ID there so how are you going to ID them? I'm pretty sure, as well, that detectives have more important cases to work on, like murder, robbery, kidnapping, etc. You can't handcuff the police and still expect them to do their job, it just doesn't work that way.

    Helicopter.
Cars follow from a safe distance and hold back until rider stops. Then it's on.

If you look at stats on captures, I think you'll find apprehension on APD with helicopters and the 'no high speed pursuit' policy are nearly as effective as GSP with high speed pursuit as SOP.

Somehow, without all the hubbub, the guys working special teams to crack down on street racing are actually really effective, in talking to the local zone commander. But I dunno.

I see a lot of videos on the internet these days of dudes on bikes attempting to lure cops into a chase. Flip em off and then twist throttle. The police helicopters, aka ghetto birds have a top speed of around 125 mph and with their optical equipment, they can keep a visual up to almost 2 miles. So, if you’re on a bike and have the balls to travel at 160mph, theoretically you can ditch the cops in roughly 6’ish miles. Allegedly.

Fortunately my Bosch cordless is still in the bed of the truck, I haven't unpacked from that job in Helen yet. And it looks like I'll need to go back up there next week to pop in a couple more cameras and tie up some loose ends until I head back in late June to finish the other side of the building (it didn't have ceilings to mount anything to). I'm too lazy to manually spin off three bolts, maybe I'll get around to unpacking on Sunday
