6.5 Rubber bed mat WESTIN on sale $123... Letting the forum know

Been looking for a bed mat for a while. Toyota one is NLA, I could be wrong.

Anyways. Been looking for the 6.5 rubber bed mat, was eyeing the westin 50-6225. It's super cheap right now

The westin mat is equal to the toyota oem mat. For $123+ free shipping it's a good price if you need one.

 

Westin makes good stuff. Have running boards and bull bar from them. Also have a bed mat (not sure from who) and like it alot. Keeps crap from sliding around. Especially if you have a bed liner.

Did your mat look like it was uniform in it's rubber?

Heard some come looking chewed up or contaminants in the rubber.

 

I was hesitant after seeing some of the pics in the reviews, but no issues at all with the one I received.

Mine came today.
It looks like it was thrown up on while the rubber was still wet.
Called westin. They said it's the luck of the draw.
Both sides, all over, brown embedded stuff.

My friend got a westin mat last week for his new f250 and it was perfect.

I dunno. Just letting you all know what to expect.

Looking at it more. It's also has 3 different sections of different color and uniformity.

Maybe I was expecting too much. I was only expecting new looking black rubber.

Looked more at it. I counted 4 places with knots/ bumps/ bad molded sections. And kind of poorly trimmed/ cut by the tailgate. One of the bubble knots, because it protrudes up, is thinner from the bottom in that spot. For sure it'll rip there first.

I dunno. It's a 4/10 rating from me. It's still a mat. Just ugly af

I called. They are sending me a new one. And gave me a return slip for this one

 

Other than it being ugly, in its finish only, the design is actually very nice to me.

It's actually a very good product. I think I'm judging it too hard for it's looks. I wasn't mad that it looked bad , it made me laugh hard today it looked so bad. It was funny to see.

But if I don't base it on the look of the mat, I'd have to say it's a bargain for every thing else it does.

And it looks so bad, that I extra don't care if it gets beat up. It's a bed mat. It'll become ugly anyway.

And the contaminated rubber i see, looks to be pieces of tire cord and tire belt pieces. Some pieces look a little oxidized. Again, not pretty but it does seem extra tough and strong. Which is good. And the shape and molding is pretty nice for $100. It fits 99% perfectly. Cannot complain.
Westin did well. For $100'ish it wouldn't be right to put down westin for the mats ugly finish factor . In the end they give a better than good mat for a cheap price.

I take back the 4/10 rating and give it a 8+/10

 

I agree it's a good mat for the price. Mine definitely has some of the embedded material you described, but I bought it mainly to keep things from sliding around on the rhino liner.

 

When I talked to westin. The customer service guy was so patient and calm, he kept explaining it's made of recycled materials and it will look like that. I kept saying it's unacceptable, he kept apologizing and saying it's like this.

I kind of feel bad for westin now, I bet so many people call and complain. The customer service guy sounded like he deals with complaints like this daily.

Their mat is nice. I was wrong. I even think it's charming now, with the contaminants. Gives off industrial vibes.
I really like this mat.

Way worse than the first one.

 

Probably keep the first one.
I don't want westin sending more to try again.

What i learned... all will look funky... some more than others...2nd one had a big blue hard epoxy lump embedded in it, and it protrudes.

Second one looks like they patched holes after it was made. At least the first one didn't have all that going on.
