Did the initial oil change and while I was under there, added the Fumoto valve.

And goodness, the oil comes out of this engine like a racehorse pees. The Fumoto valve will be a welcome addition on the next change. My oil bucket was choking on the drop volume.
For anyone getting one, mind that you’ll need to order the hose and snap separately.

I know alot of peeps swear by these, but I just can't have anything that large hanging down from my oil pan. Its not happening. So, instead, I'll just have oil splatter everywhere.

It’s really not as big as it seems in the pic. Still out of the away

It hides nicely under the skid If you have one. I run them on everything even the blower and generator. Never had an issue.

Take a look at the https://www.valvomax.com/products/m12-1-25-quick-twist-valve-with-stainless-drain-tube-knob
It's lower profile, doesn't use the valve open/close lever, and has a screw on cap for peace of mind.
I've used Fumoto on past vehicles, but the Valvomax gives me a better feeling of not dumping the oil if I were to run over something.

2.5 gen here. Installed ValvoMax on my last oil change. Definitely a high quality product.

At least on mine, the valve is behind the skid plate. Something gets to it, the valve is least of my concern.

They are a little slower, but the cleaner drain is well worth it…especially if there is any breeze.

On the Tundra it's still above your crossmember so, unless you are regularly bashing your undercarriage, yes you can have it "hanging down" without any issue.

I have a Fumoto, too and love it. Since we have a lot of ground clearance there is room for the long nipple version that holds the drain hose on better. And especially for anyone with a front skid it is a no brainer to get the long one.

Yup. The skid mounts to the bottom of the crossmember, and the valve sits well above that.

Tucked. With skid plates, plus being above the crossmember, there’s no worry of breaking it.

    Makes oil changes SOOO easy.

Which skid is that with the oil drain access opening, and show us the oil filter access, please. I have the TRD skid so have to wrestle that off and back on every oil change. At least the Fumoto makes it all neater.

I don’t have a pic with the panel off right now, but basically, you remove this little service panel and its direct access to oil filter and drainspout. I use a tube and attach it, then run it straight into a catch pan.
I have the RCI engine, transmission, and transfer case skids with the cat guards.

I’ve got the talons garage one, last change I just stuck the hose on, grabbed the filter from the side and didn’t even bother taking the access port off. The bird logo has a big enough hole to stick the hose out of and drain it through it.

What about the drain plug? Can you operate a Fumoto through that hole? And if you are using the OEM drain plug how do you keep the oil stream from spraying all over and collecting in the skid pan?

You can operate the drain from the side. I have the small nipple one, it drains just fine. Doesn’t hit the plate.

Yep don’t need to, but I attach a hose to the Fumoto as well. Both hoses to the catch pan, zero drips or splashes.

Before I consider ditching my TRD skid I'd like to see the RCI or Talons skids on some Tundras in person to see how easy it would be to do an oil change (with my Fumoto long version with hose) without pulling those plates like I have to do with the TRD skid. Those access panels and holes look pretty minimal, and I am not sure I'd be able to get my big mitts in there to put a hose on and operate the Fumoto.... or get the filter. I guess I could also get a metal hole saw and make access for the oil drain... but making some way to access the filter would be more difficult. For now, I'll just keep wrestling my TRD skid.

Lots of pics of the rci plates installed. I have one on my Tundra as well. The opening gives you enough room to get in there, loosen the oil filter, connect the hose and let it drain a little before you fully remove the oil filter. You are working with one hand on this. The other hand can go around the plate if you need it to.

I have a fumoto on all my cars. Love that I can get the oil blazing hot and not worry about cooking myself with it when draining.

Interesting video.... The person is more concerned with a little oil being left behind. I'd like to see this guy get the oil to operating temp and then drain it.
First with the fumoto and then with the normal way of "how fast can I get my hand and drain plug out of the way before I loose layers of skin"

I understand the concern about leaving oil behind, but if I'm that worried, after it's all drained I'll leave the valve open and dump a quart or two of clean oil through to flush/dilute the last bit that's in there. After that clean oil is done draining, close it up and fill as normal.

It's a really small amount so I'm not actually that worried about it. It's not like the threads stick 2 inches into the pan and are blocking massive amounts from draining.

    Agreed.
I think I replied in another Fumoto thread on this same subject.
(F133N on mine; another fan of long nipples.) :D

We have a ~10+ quart oil system and only drain and fill roughly 8 with filter. So we're already leaving 2 quarts behind at every change anyway. Another ounce or two, (even if it was 1/2 quart) doesn't mean squat.
