Just a warning. I'm not sure if this will happen to every Sequoia, but I wanted to let others know.

I have a 2006 Sequoia limited and I got my windshield tinted. Tinting the windshield caused my dash "white" lights, odometer and ignition to have problems. I lost my white dash lights, odometer and my Sequoia would start in the "ON" position for roughly two/three days for the windshield tint that eventually had to be re-tinted. The second time it had issues for roughly two days.

Just be careful and make sure your tint shop takes extra steps to protect the electronics under the windshield/dash. Mine used tint rope and towels, but the second time around I asked them to double the protection.

Here is a link to my first thread of the issues I was having. After my second round of windshield tint, I knew what the problem was.

I believe they did get water behind my dash. I did some research and found out water can get into the dash. Mazda, Tesla & Chevy forums talked about it.

It is illegal in FL where I am. Knock on wood, I've had no issue so far.

    Correct!

    Mmmmmm, Fried fish. yum!

Sounds like a light sensor going bonkers?
Does anyone know where this "sensor' is?

In Birmingham Alabama. In One of the suburbs where low crime+bored & over zealous cops= chompin’ at the bits to find some sort of crime to get their hands dirty with. And boy oh boy do I have some stories I could tell about them harassing the citizens of this middle class city. Nobody here likes them, it’s like they are militarized against the city and it’s citizens they serve.

But in Birmingham formal, the police could care less about window tint because they actually have real crime to worry about.

So you did something you know to be illegal, got ticketed for it, and your takeaway is that the LEOs are in the wrong?

I believe water made it's way to connections and caused the issue. After a few days in the sun it dried out.

You mean the sensor in front of the truck behind the Toyota emblem or the one on the windshield?

Neither....the issue was more related to water penetration during windshield replacement to the Integration Panel located behind and part of the Cab fuse Panel.

The thread he linked to in his first post above explains it.
