O2 sensor part number

Bank 1 sensor 2, 2001, 4.7 V8, 4WD, AC cab, Denso part number?

Upstream is universal. 4WD downstream are different than 2WD. Here are the 'Direct Fit' (i.e. non-universal) part numbers. I recommend replacing in pairs, but ... you do you. Note, I believe the downstream use a basic gasket, and I don't know if the Denso part will come with it.

Soooooo, the Denso sensor arrived Saturday and this morning I gathered all the tools I thought I might need, laid my cardboard under the truck, flopped on the ground, crawled under the truck, turned on the shoplight and behold,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, a friggin mess!!! Wouldn't ya just love to beat on some nimrods with a 2x4!?

 

Obviously the person who did that didn't have any nuts. Double entendre intentional.

 

Looks like what I need done to both of my downstream O2 sensors. But that is an awful weld job. Pretty sure I could do a better job and I don't know how to weld.

 

The bugger has a hex nut so I'm assuming (I know, I know) that it unscrews. IF it does unscrew, any educated guess as to what might fit? The upstream sensor?

 

There are O2 Sensor sockets that you can get. There are two types, one is a socket that is slotted for the wire and the other is a open end wrench that attaches to your breaker bar. Not sure what size it is off hand.

 

Probably wasn't clear enough. I wasn't asking what wrench fits (I have em all) but what sensor might fit.

 

I'd pop that sensor out, grind the weld boogers off, and get back to the original OEM bung plate. I clearly see the studs are still there. You may need to clean the threads and get a new sensor gasket, but it'd take you back to stock.

 

My bad. It looks like the upstream sensor listed above in @shifty` post listing the different O2 sensors. Is this picture of the one on the pipe off the manifold?

 

If it’s the 22mm/7/8 in. hex nut you’re asking about, those are upstream, like big hex nut in pic below.The downstream are held in place normally with 2 nuts threaded on exhaust bolts. Appears a previous owner used upstream on downstream if I’m understanding correctly

 

Optical illusion, there are no studs. What you probably see are weld boogers. Am I correct that the upstream and downstream plugs are different?

 

As I mentioned in the post just above yours, the upstream has a 22mm hex bolt like the one your showing and a downstream has 2 bolts welded in the exhaust where 2 nuts hold it on....picture was attached of upstream/downstream for your 2001.

 

Here the bugger is; threaded like the upstream but with a plug like the downstream. And no numbers or codes of any kind stamped on it.

 

Is there a part number anywhere on that sensor ?

I found a match, Denso 234-4622. Since I'm too close to my inspection date I'm going to give it a shot and order one.

 

I installed the new one today and reset the code so time will tell.

UPDATE: Took a long drive over the mountain, shopped a couple places, hit the Diner, and dropped a return off at UPS - no CEL so looks like maybe that fixed it.
