    2016 SR5 DC TRD Off-Road
Hello, 1st post looking for help making improvements to truck I just bought.
I have read thru some threads and found good info on mods but some options have me confused on correct parts. I could use help sorting out P/N's to buy and best sources. I've used Olathe Toyota for my '03 Gen 1 parts but if better deals elsewhere I'd give 'em a try. Links to threads or how to videos for removing and installing stuff would be appreciated.
2016 SR5 DC with TRD Off-Road package and 90,000 miles.
Truck seems to be stock without any mods or adds except for running board steps and aluminum contractors rack extending over cab. Paint is Silver Sky Metallic. Looks pretty good, never in car wash because of contractor rack. I'll do paint correction. Interior had neoprene seat covers since new so original charcoal/graphite fabric upholstery is like new. May do leather/heat/cool at later date. No oil leaks or rust. New Michelin LTX A/T2 P275/65R18. Manual AC, front skid pan, I think big fuel tank not sure if has skid, no rear sway bar?, blind spot monitors in mirrors, looks like maybe parking sensors in bumpers too?, chrome bumper ends, headlights I'm not sure what they are or if it has drl's. Looks like yellow halogen inboard and yellow square lens outboard.
I'm not going to go crazy with mods but want to do updates and improvements. I'm open to other mods if they make sense.

    Interior:
•update head unit to android auto (I've purchased today a Phoenix 13” Android 13 Vertical Screen Nav SC7870 6g ram 128g rom for 2014 to 2021 Tundra having manual AC controls. Hope it works out!
•interior chrome delete (kit of some sort or scuff n paint?).
•replace all interior lights with LED (kit).
•Auto up/down window switches. (Can you auto down all with fob?)
•Remote start from key fob Bluetooth or android app (is this possible low cost?)
•Grab bar handle (if grey parts easily available)
•Brake Controller replace oem. Either install Tekonsha Prodigy P2 I have or upgrade to P3 version. (Is this plug n play w/filler plate?)
    •Add auto headlights stalk.
•? is there a way to do auto high beams that go off when oncoming car lights detected?
•Seat jackers (seems like these can be diy made?)
•Pedal commander (do I need this) OK, no pedal commander

    Exterior:
•Replace Tail Lights with LED. Not sure which ones look best with this truck or p/n.
    •Replace headlights with LED.
OK 81110-0C211 and 81150-0C221 2019 TRD Pro LED's with iHacker harness

    •Exterior chrome delete.
Bumper ends (will check with plating shop re removing chrome?)
    Grill (options vs replacement grill?
    Hood bump?
•Rear sway bar (oem or?) not sure why missing.
•Replace running board steps that have steel perf treads I'll cut my shins with. Need inexpensive smooth bar with rubber tread full length not that wide.
•Add Leaf Springs, Bags or what? Not sure how much Gen 2.5 trucks squat with weight on bed. I'll be installing a heavy topper to the bed rails. On Gen 1 truck I added a pretty thick leaf spring on each side to level truck. Topper weighs about 750lbs. With other permanent stuff probably 1,000lbs in bed at all times. Would this mod be helpful or no?
RAS Springs Toyota Tundra 1999 - 2021 SD Kit.
    _____
Fun stuff elec power in so I can make coffee and cook breakfast on tail gate while watching 35" 12v TV.
•Charger - DC to DC Charger. Victron Orion XS Smart DC to DC Battery Charger 12/12 50A.
    •Battery - LiTime 230ah 12v LifePO4 battery w/bms.
    •Inverter - LiTime 2000w Pure Sine Wave Inverter 12v.
•Solar Panel on topper - LG NeON 335W
    •Solar Controller - Victron SmartSolar MPPT Solar Charge Controller 100V, 30amp, 12V.
    •misc stuff ..

    Thanks for helping

Congrats on your purchase and welcome! And you got the best color too! Heck of a wish list, but we all have them. I will chime in to say the OEM 2019+ led headlight upgrade with black housing was the best purchase. Totally worth the investment. And the Ihacker harness is great, install was straightforward, and works flawlessly. The black housing dramatically changes the look from the oem halogens and visibility is a huge improvement.

Don't get the Pedal Commander. The Banks Pedal Monster is a much better unit. For led taillights, @memario1214 can hook you up with the Hottails conversion that alot of us have. He also has all kinds of stuff.....lighting, suspension, wheels, etc.

    None at this point.
First thing I removed on my truck.
If you're going to be doing any wheeling they definitely have to go.

Well, I'm no where near an expert but if you estimate that you'll be hauling a 1000 lbs. at all times, then I'd say that's your limit. It's a half tons truck. If you add leaf springs that doesn't make it a 3/4 ton truck. Your wheel hubs, axles, springs and everything else is rated for what the truck is built for.
    Just my .02.

Don’t do anything to the rear suspension until you see how it squats with weight. I have the exact same truck, 2016 Tundra DC Off Road 4X4. I put in air bags on the rear on my truck before I bought my fifth wheel thinking I would need them. Nope. The fifth wheel has a pin weight around 1,200lbs and the truck held the weight just fine when I deflated the bags to try to bring the truck level. As far as the brake controller, keep using the Toyota brake controller but get the update done. There is a software update for it and when it’s done the brake controller works fine.

Depends on the fifth wheel but let’s not derail the thread. The payload police are always on patrol.

Point I’m making is that your year of Tundra with the OR package can handle more weight than other models. I had a 2020 Tundra Sport and it would squat with 700lbs in the back. I had to add a Sumospring in the back to help when towing our TT.

Look at this picture and you can see the 2020 has a bit of squat with the TT and I was using a WD hitch with the Sumosprings.

1200# centered over the axle probably presents less weight to the rear axle than 750# 4-5' behind it. The fifth wheel probably handles that weight great compared to the way a TT turns the hitch into a lever and a pivot point 5' behind the axle.

There are no DRL in the headlights. Some models had them in the front marker lights. There are two options if you want them. You can change the turn signal flasher to get DRL in the signal lights. You can buy a turn signal flasher with DRL off eBay for around $40. The second option is to replace the headlights with 2019-2022 headlight with the DRL strip in them. I bought a set of aftermarket headlights and the prices was very reasonable any they work just like the original. I updated my grill at the same time.

My 2020 Tundra Sport never handled the weight in the bed as well as the 2016 OR does. I have to haul stove pellets in the winter and I’ve had 2000lbs in the bed of my OR and the truck handled it remarkably well. The 2020 Sport couldn’t handle that weight and I would only carry around 1,000lbs.

OK I'm going with new head lights just not sure which ones. Seems there are several ways to have lights configured/display. I like the strip in yours so maybe the 2019 Pro's are way to go.
For tails I'm leaning towards the Winjet sequential LED's.

You can cut an access hole in the skid plate to allow you to get to the oil filter canister. Do a search, there are a few threads on it.

This is the new head unit I purchased from Phoenix. Lower portion replaces manual climate controls which is cool.

I did, but it wasn't a QC issue...they just didn't fit me. The wife likes the set on the pass side, I gave the other set to a friend.
