Im shopping around for a 2nd gen Sequoia with the 4.7 4x4 limited. Im curious if anyone here has the 4.7 in there 2nd gen and can give any experience. MPG, towing, off-road.

I currently have 04 Sequoia 280k miles and 03 GX470 250k miles. Its an engine im familiar with. I personally think its the best engine Toyota has created. I know the 3ur is 100+ HP more than the 2uz.

The 2nd gen will mostly be our family hauler. I might do an oem + build down the road.

    Per Wiki.

    SR5 for the 4.7

The 4.7 L is standard on the SR5. Some of the earlier 2008 and 2009 SR5 models do come with the 5.7 L as an option when purchasing, while the Limited and Platinum models come standard with a 5.7 L V8 engine. Four-wheel drive is available on all models

As someone that has owned multiple 2UZs and 3URs, I'd take the 5.7 for driving a family through the mountains. No brainer if you'll ever be towing anything. 2UZ wins in longevity but if it's not flat I'll take the torque.

2UZ was a great match for the first gen Tundra. Second gen is quite a bit larger, I would go 5.7 without hesitation. Victor just million miled one of them too.
