What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Yeah, it's definitely the same spring TRQ was using, not the lower.

It also appears to be a really piss-poor design, and a wild diversion from the OEM part that works perfectly.

I hate aftermarket parts.

 

It's a Savior Senior Battery Tray. I think they are discontinued now. I'm using a 94R AGM which is shorter than a stock 24/27F. That said, I'm building a spacer and going back to the factory style hold down (I've got one of Coop's TRD brackets) and ditching this tray.

Did a "stuck recovery" today. Used the Tundra (technically my friend used it as he was driving) to pull a zero turn out of the mud. Had to block traffic in both directions to pull that off.

Tundra had to back over a rather steep grass embankment........I wish I had this on video but my wife didn't go and everyone was too busy either with the recovery or blocking traffic to do any recording. Tundra came through!

 

Finally took a drive at night with the updated higher output version of the mini projectors. Oh yeah you can definitely tell the difference. It’s brighter, but where the 160w version shines is at the end of the beam which is where I felt the original style projectors were weak. High beam is still nothing to write home about, but if yours fail these are worth the upgrade.

Looks good, which ones are those, again? I’m assuming mine are gonna be burnt up soon. Average life out of the no-fan model I have seems to be about 18-36mos on average.

These went through customs so order them in advance. For whatever reason mine don’t burn out in pairs so it’s nice to have a backup. These wound up having the same style reflector so I doubt they’ll last longer.

 

The eagle on the bulb shown on the product box looks strangely like the Dorman logo….

 

I need to do this. Just got a new Hitachi MAF sensor from Rock Auto. Going to rehab the intake system and clear my p0172 and p0175 hopefully for good.
But it's mother's Day, so I'll have to wait til next weekend

 

Used the winch to help remove the 5th wheel hitch, the wireless remote is nice to have in this situation

Picked up a trailer to build out as an off-road trailer for my roof top tent since I don't have the nice rack I had on my Tacoma anymore.

 

Have you seen a 1st gen with a 5th wheel?

 

There's a first for everything I guess! Not sure what you could tow with a first gen that would require a 5th wheel but it'd be a conversation starter for sure.

Yeah, that was the stopping point for me. I’m not paying as much for the shipping as the part, so I’m not buying.

 

I haven't done anything to my Tundra since getting it from the stealership.

I have been using it a lot though. Today I went back to "crackhead corner" which seems to be getting fewer crackheads. Apparently armed mowing crews showing up with their own armed security (I kid you not) are having an impact!

Drove the Tundra to the same place as yesterday, this time going alone as the wife was sick, (security team was sick also), managed to forget my phone....anyway. Hauled back two bags of grass clippings I raked up and another 6 bags of trash I picked up. Got a better run at those steep hills....topped those around 60 to 70 mph this time.

Pulled the smaller trailer and mowed two yards, finishing just as the sun went down.

 

WV was such a gorgeous drive. And i wasnt in the cities, but everyone was so nice at the gas stations and everywhere i stopped to rest. Pretty sure 119 was one of my favorite roads bringing the buell home from PA. Think i slept the first night outside normantown. Since the bike was new to me, i appreciated the lower speed limits, but if i go back, i know theres 50 miles of backroads i’d like to try at full tilt.

 

I know my Speedo is off with tyres and gearing, but I feel you on the slower roads. Longer road trips with less stuff were definitely taking the 4r, but the seats do suck!

 

Did the gearing affect your 06 speedo?
I want to say only the tire size effected mine.
The gearing did affect my 03 though.

 

I've got a gooseneck hitch that I keep inverted so as not to trigger too many questions.

Your spare is only 5 years newer than mine. Still slightly out of date though.

 

Yeah, in 8 years of ownership, never had to drop the spare. It's on my roundtuit list, though pretty far down. I've got a new gunmetal TRD wheel to match my others (17x7), need to find a used 255x75r17 AT tire to put on it before I throw it up under the truck next to the gooseball.
