All done. Got the pads and rotors changed out and the system bled. I'll bed them tomorrow.

Got rained on twice, so I had to pause work a couple of times.

Replaced A/C system. (Compressor, condenser, trans cooler). $4,600.00. She's worth it though.

yep, the condenser with built in tranny cooler is insanely expensive, probably half that labor bill (plus checking the level of the tranny)

I recharged my 13.5 yr old AC system over the last weekend. I used that AC Pro stuff and it couldn't have been easier. My AC was still working but just not as cold as it had been. Followed the video instructions and it couldn't have been easier. It takes less than 10 minutes. Just be sure to not over charge the system.....

Buddy of mine just picked up a super clean 2nd gen but it did come with a drop bracket lift. How can I tell if the cross member has been cut or not? He wants to remove it and put stock height suspension back on.

A few... Definitely more than 2
I am not an expert on drop bracket lifts but in my quick google session it is the rear cross-member that mounts the LCA that needs to be cut for 4x4 trucks to remount the diff lower on the truck. I don't see CV axels in that picture so I don't think your buddies truck is 4x4 so it is not clear to me if it is required to cut the cross member on 2wd trucks.

Red box is what is being cut in the video and the the one above the dudes head is the one I can see in your picture.
    upload_2025-5-15_9-54-14.png

My reference is this install video of a similar drop bracket lift... no personal knowledge here best advice would be have someone crawl under there and verify.

Appreciate the insight. Yes the truck is 2wd with a massive pro comp lift and fuel rims. It looks like a truck out of a 2010 wheel magazine. I told my buddy he just needs a monster energy sticker on his windows now lol. But in reality it’s a limited with the western interior and 80k miles so it’s a gem.

He could always remove the kit and find a used crossmember cut and have it welded back in. A few people I know went that route

like black plastic? There isn't really a permanent fix, you could either take a blow torch and heat it up real quick and it will restore the black (but doesn't last) or you could get a kit from like Cerekote or others and see how long that lasts

I installed a Rockford Fosgate P300-8P 8" powered subwoofer today. New experience for me as I have not done anything like that yet.

    IMG_8761.jpg

The remote gain control is dangling for a couple of days until the replacement compartment is delivered. The previous owner had a Pod trailer brake controller in that space and apparently disposed of the old compartment.
    IMG_8762.jpg
    IMG_8763.jpg

That thing hasn't worked since I bought the truck, and I plan on installing a Redarc to replace it.

I haven't dialed in the sub yet, but I'll get to that this evening. I have no need or desire to make my neighbors wet the bed from 3 blocks away; I just wanted a little more bass to round out my sound system. (Currently, I have a Kenwood DNX996XR Excelon Reference HU with Memphis Audio M-Class tweeters, component 6x9's, and 6.5's). It fit my budget for what I wanted, and my expectations are on par. I'll report back with some performance results once I test it and get it dialed in for my taste.

Do you mind showing the underside of the cap? I was wondering if my factory cap is messed up and I just haven't gone to the parts store to check
