So would like to hear the consensus if you had to go through buying a new car today, would you be getting a 3rd Gen Tundra? Or would you go with something else. Or even downgrade to a 2.5 Gen?

Tint and wheels. Decked box in the bed. S and B Cold Air filters under the hood. Shiftpower throttle response controller.
I've had a few minor issues, but I would buy another Gen3 in a heart beat.

Yeah, better look up the meaning of consensus. Not happening here. Well, maybe if you asked if the 5.7 is a better engine.:crapstorm:

To be fair, everyone I have spoken with in-person has enjoyed their third gen. The internet is always a shit show, and a different story.

My company has (2) 2024's in service, each traveling about 3,500 miles per month. Both have been flawless and far improved from the 22-23MY in my opinion, no wind noise or rattles. I am very pleased with the purchases as are the employees driving them. They haven't replaced our HD trucks, but for salesman and deliveries under 2,000 pounds they've been great. If I didn't need a HD truck I'd be in a Tundra as well, I think they offer the best value at the moment.

Not to mention cost of ownership is fantastic, my F-350 just needed oil change, both fuel filters, and tire rotation which cost $650 at the dealer (ludicrous I know), but I have to prioritize my time and right now doing maintenance myself isn't realistic. Whereas, the Tundra's are under $100 every 5,000 miles.

I'm loving mine, only 2600 miles on my 24 so far, and I'm noticing the fuel mileage is going up as its still breaking in. I enjoy & look forward to driving it.

I have a 24 model Tundra with 29K miles on it. It’s my first Tundra and I like it very much, but with an 8/23 build date, I do wonder if one day while I’m in the middle of nowhere, the engine will crap out. Still, it’s one of the two best trucks I have ever owned.

I had a 22 F-150 previously that was nothing but a constant source of aggravation for me. It was something new every couple of weeks on top of the drivetrain shudder it had from day one. I got mad every time I drove it. Ford’s response to the problems with that truck pretty much guaranteed that I will never own another Ford.

If I had to buy another truck right now, it would probably be another new Tundra. I don’t think there’s another half-ton that I would want right now.

    nope, downgrade :p:D

less payload, less towing, less HP, less torque, higher torque peak, less MPG, less drive modes, no 6.5' bed on crewmax, no locker, no auto load level, no underseat storage, way worse ride, no crawl control, less gears, less stereo, no power running boards, no HUD, no heated wheel, no vented seats that work, no rear heated seats, no rear vented seats, no pano roof.

just a few off the top of me head :burp:

Buying any vehicle has never been zero risk. Never will.

Quality is never 100%. Every brand has trucks that failed early and some still trucking at 400k + miles

Those are the way it is. Buy want you want that fits your needs and that you can afford. Able to afford includes being able to dump a lemon and take a reasonable loss if it happens.

Life is too short. What you drive is not who you are

He likely did not as there is no consensus. On pretty much anything. I'm sure OP is looking for some reinforcement on a buying decision. Good luck.

Faced that scenario last fall after total loss of another vehicle.

Decided that in the $65-$70K price range we’d rather not buy a 3rd Gen Tundra. I looked at one, but was unimpressed with the build quality, visibility, and the engine recall issues.

So the old 2007 Tundra soldiers on, and a 2024 Land Cruiser joined us. It’s a Japanese made Toyota (Hino plant for ours), and you can tell: significantly nicer materials and build from plastic in the engine bay to the door cards inside.

Part of this also came down to having an old truck we can use as a truck with zero concerns about scratches, dents, or other things that happen when you use a truck as a tool.
