Has anyone put Sumo Springs on 3rd Gen?

I just ordered a set of black the other day, expecting delivery this weekend or Monday. With a 30 min install, if they are too firm I'll simply install and remove as needed. I plan on using them for pulling an RV, so it's not like I'll just be hooking up to pull on a whim.

 

They are not supposed to break in. That’s why most people stick to the blue ones as they are rated for less constant weight on them.

I have the same use case. 5-6 times a year.

I went with black because I had black on my 2012 and they were unnoticeable.

 

I added sumospings in the rear and up front . I haven’t towed yet . I don’t think the front ones do much for me.

 

If yours are too stiff, you may want to look at blue like others have stated. I have them on mine and they seem to work well. Remember, our trucks arent meant to carry 2000 lbs, and if not constantly weighted down the impact over bumpy roads will be harsh

 

Yeah, I may email sumo springs. I'm sure they deal with this all the time.

 

I have the blue ones & they are perfect while towing & hauling. Once they touch the axle its a smooth ride. My only complaint is the 3/4 inch or so until it touches, you can feel the axle hit the springs empty at times & It'll definitely keep it from bouncing.
You wouldn't want them touching while empty, the ride would be too stiff, and any more space would cause more sag when loaded. Its a happy medium in my opinion.

 

This is my experience with the black ones. Except when the frame hits the black spring, the sudden change in overall spring rate is jarring.

Zero complaints when towing as they are in constant contact

I wish the sumo springs had some kind of quick switch out with a standard bump stop.

 

Just get the blue ones, and itll be just like that
