Have any of you guys done any camping in southern Ontario? I'm newer to the area and am hoping to take the tundra out this summer, ideally I'm looking for suggestions around the Waterloo Guelph area. I realize there's no crown land down here but I'm wondering if any of the provincial or local parks are decent and if you have specific recommendations for spots at the location.

    Thanks,
    Fisher

Hi, & welcome! I haven't camped in S/W Ont at all but have in Central Ont at provincial parks. If your in the K/W-Guelph area it isn't too far to head up to Bruce Peninsula - either the national park or Sauble falls provincial park. Also provincial parks around Awenda & Six Mile lake up near midland area. Or even over toward Grand Bend & the Pinery & Point Farm near Goderich. If you haven't already, go onto Ontario Parks Website and check a few out, see which ones are within your desired driving distance and see. Locate Provincial Parks in Ontario

One piece of advice is when you do camp at a Prov Park your permit works as a day pass for all parks, so you can go visit and check out nearby parks to get more bang for your buck as far as getting a feel for which ones you want to camp at or not.

There are also FB groups for camping, all different locations and such you could check some out. I don't have any names of the groups off the top of my head but can dig a few up if you need. Hope it helps

Drive to Quebec. James Bay Road is a good start. Trans-Taiga is fabulous. Bring canoe. Say hello if you see a red Tundra with Massachusetts plates :)

Great suggestion about visiting other parks with the camping pass, never would have thought to do that.

    Thanks,

    None at this point.
.....which has to be entirely different than camping in South Texas!!!
Before I bought our camper we bought a custom canvas tent with a sock and drawstring that went around a window A/C unit.
You'd wet down the tent before bedtime and fire up the A/C!!!
It actually worked very well because once you wet it down the high humidity would keep it wet throughout the night.
It was pure luxury when you consider tent camping in Texas in the summer!!!
The only way to get any sleep at all without this setup was to get drunk and pass out.
And then you'd wake up to the blistering sun and feel like total crap!!!
That kind of camping was only suited to the young.

Quebec is beautiful, especially in the fall.

Icebergs still floating on 20th of June - does it count as not-summer? :)

Hit post by accident. You get Lake Huron on one side and georgeon bay on the other. If you go to the top of the peninsula, you can take the chichimon to Manatoulin island. Other than that you could work your way towards Collingwood. There’s a campground nearby also.
