This issue started up last night, truck has 160k miles. The following post is not mine but that is the exact noise it started making.

    https://youtube.com/shorts/xscntqU32iY?feature=shared

It also seems to be shutting off while driving, I am able to get it running again by moving the battery connections which i replaced thinking it was that but not sure what could be causing that either.

No issues with the truck prior to these two issues. Hopefully they are not costly fixes.

Sounds like the worst timing chain/tensioner issue I’ve ever heard.

Sounds more like a potentially broken valve spring to me

    None....
It sounds like my truck but louder. I wonder if it sounds different in person than phone recording. Post back if you find out what it is.

A video of the noise your truck makes would probably be more useful. That being said - that sounds more like lifter / valve spring than chain to me.

Any idea of oil change intervals prior to you owning it? Sounds more valvetrain related than chain related to me. Poor oil change intervals can eventually plug up the chain tensioners or valve lifters.

Ill try to get a video uploaded, as far the oil change I have done them right on schedule as I have been the only owner. As of today the sound has gone away and I didn’t do anything to it as of yet but for know the knocking has stopped.

Get a mechanics stethoscope to pin point the noise area.. Sounds like valve train.. Since it died while running, has it been scanned for codes ?.

Sounds like a collapsed hydraulic valve lifter
