just get a narrow/low pressure tip to reduce overspray. Fine finish tips like for doors/trim work will help keep it on the wall and not bounce off and into the air....might just take longer to finish but it beats rolling it all.

I just bought a couple bottles...I have beavers I need to remove and the last time I did, I had the Great American Beaver Slaughter of 2010...it took 15 years for them to return...and boy, are they busy and hungry! Ha! Thank you for the suggestion!

I cleaned my garage. I've amassed a lot of crap over the past few years and it needed a good purge. Filled up my trailer with a load of stuff that's going to the dump. I can actually walk around AND use my workbench now.

It is. It does feel good to get rid of it, but at the same time I just think of all the money that got wasted. I was able to put some stuff on marketplace and craigslist, but a lot of things I'm like, "There's $20, there's $50, etc...

Started the process of cleaning out my dads garage. He passed away earlier this year, and it was time to start going through his belongings. We brought home a 3 gallon bucket full of snap on and craftsman sockets, and about 100+ different wrenchs, ratchets, all the same brands. Still have various specialty tools to sift through. My son also got this, my dad left it to him, was barely used.

My son and I both have toolboxes, mines a double stack and fairly wide. Now filled, soon time for an upgrade. Thinking of an Icon 73” chest to start with.

I hear ya about tossing shit that holds value but where's the cut off in storing it...When I did a lot of side work I would save a lot of the extras and re use it. But now I'm at the point where side work I try not to do any and is pretty much exclusively for friends & family.
Shit, today I went to the scrape yard to cash in all of my type 1,2 and mixed brass and walked away with just under 1K:thumbsup:

Sorry to hear about your Dad,and now your son can use the tools to keep the memories & dream alive.
I to lost mine and today it's 10 years ago to the day.
I miss his solid advice, the ball busting and the "added self" check to keep me in line.

Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how to fix this. Our front porch has a small covered area and then a square opening in the ceiling to let sunlight in. The ceiling underneath the porch is drywall. The drywall is getting wet and beginning to deteriorate. From what I can tell the boards forming the square are rotting away and somewhat soft to the touch, especially in the corners. I believe the rain comes down the drip edge and weakened the boards where water began to get through and wreck the drywall on the backsides of the boards.

I’m thinking that the drip edge needs to be taken off and then replace the boards and seal them up especially in the corners? Then redo the drywall that borders the frame underneath and redo the drip edge. Is it that simple or is this something that I should contact a roofer to tackle?

I'd just frame in the opening, sheet, and roof. Add a skylight if you want the sun.

That’s still an option, but the wife likes the sunlight coming through which also brightens up the living room from the window right below that opening.

This picture is ultimately what I think I want for our retirement home. Garage and shop on one half, with one bay tall enough to have a lift, and a shorter bay for other vehicles/boat/stuff off to the side, and the other half is living space.

I tried talking him into making into a living space when we were wiring it. He said no.

When this permit gets closed in another week or so he's pulling another permit for a guest house for his in laws on the property.

I tried talking the wife into a barndo when we relocated to Utah. She said no.:(

There's some pretty cool live/ work builds around here. Pretty popular choice if you're building from scratch and have the land.

Nothing better than working on your toys in the house.

It's something @JakeJake, @bmf4069, @BroHon and a few other dudes and I have been fawning over here and there these past couple of years. Barndo would really solve a lot of issues while opening up doors to stuff we need to keep up with the hobby. I'd like to figure something out, I plan to retire in the next 5-8 years, if not sooner.

Guess I’m replacing a water valve today. Goes out to the Shopartment. Water pressure is abysmal out there. Dug it up and found it to be an old rubber gasket type valve that was leaking at the stem when open anyway. Gonna replace with a large 1/4 turn ball valve.

Wow, color me impressed. You got it to flex in that small of a hole!

I'm gonna make a wild ass guess that he probably primed and glued in the valve, then primed and glued in that tail extension going off to the right, then slid on that join/collar up so it was by the valve, primed and glued around the open section of pipes and slid that little join/collar over to finish the job.

I reckon that's how I'd have done it n tight quarters, no flexing required, just some order and shimmying the collar around.

I back dug the pipe on the right down in the hole with a garden shovel to get enough flex
