Are you not able to access behind the console by removing that panel in the glovebox? Additionally, it's wise to pull out of the console panel so the USB cable can be fed cleanly.

Been following along, trying to decide between CarLinkit, Binize, and Ottocast boxes. CarLinkIt has a relatively new box, with HDMI output for external screens... beauty of this would be the ability to plug into RV or motel TVs, I would think.

    UPDATE: Apparently can't insert a link :(

The Ottocast TV Mate lets you plug in a Firestick to an HDMI port for under $100! I wonder if you could use an Android or Apple to HDMI cable, and cast directly from your phone?

The Carlink unit I received does not recognize it is being used in the US for a few of my subscription services (ex - Peacock). Anyone know how to update the location settings for the carlink? I did not see an answer in the user guide.

I just got this one today after seeing your post. Do you use iPhone or Android? I already have the Benize with like Android 8 or 9. But I thought I'd try this one out as I'll eventually need another for my wife's vehicle. Once I get it LoL. Anyway, I hooked it up, connected to my hot spot, tried to install chrome and Firefox but it would almost finish but I think there's something to prevent installing additional apps, I guess? No biggie. Tried watching Netflix and it was very laggy. And picture quality was fuzzy looking compared the the Benize. Switched back to the Benize and it looked great again. One thing it done on initial start-up was restart to adjust the video settings. I may try it again. I watched their video and you're supposed to Bluetooth it to the AA/CP screen. I didn't do that the 1st time since it already had apps there after it booted up. It also got quite warm in the 10-15 minutes I played with it.

I use iPhone, honestly I only use the adapter for netflix so I havent connected my BT to the adapter to use the carplay features. My screen was definitely fuzzy at first but then the screen calibrated and its clear on my end! But you're correct about netflix being a little laggy when navigating but once I select a show theres no lag on the sound and picture. I will play around with it some more today, but overall im happy with it for what im using it for!

    Which version did you purchase?

I highly advise against this. The first time I set up voice assistant, it screwed up the way the sound was transferred to the car's audio system. With voice assistance activated, the truck will think that the carlinkit unit is a phone and will play a muffled, distorted sound, like you're on a phone call through the car speakers.

I was confused at first, so I factory reset the unit and tried it again--same outcome. This muffled distortion will not go away and cannot be disabled unless you factory reset the unit once it occurs.

Maybe your unit will be different and better than mine, but that's just my experience with it.

I have a dumb question that I need some confirmation on. My phone has unlimited data, but my phones hotspot does not. Do these boxes need wifi strictly to run or can it use your phones data through Bluetooth? I'm just confused on how they get their data.

Wifi only...so it would need your hotspot...not bluetooth
