Transmission shudder (I think) shook the whole truck

There I was, pulling out from a gas station fairly briskly to get ahead of traffic down the road, and I had to gun it to get over 2-3 lanes to a turn lane and then come to a stop almost immediately. The truck stopped, and then the entire thing shook or lurched forward like I'd been rear-ended. I actually thought I had been, but no vehicle was behind me. So the only thing I can figure is that the quick acceleration for a brief moment followed by quick deceleration must have caught the transmission off-guard and, for whatever reason, it didn't shift back down to 1st until after I wasn't moving anymore. The engine and transmission were fully warmed up by this point in the day.

Is this possible? If so has it happened to anyone else? And if not, what other explanations might there be? I'm not a mechanic and this is my first truck.

    Thanks.

Yes, same scenario…pulling out into traffic, on gas hard (up a slight incline), didn’t make the turn lane light and braked hard. Hard kathump in the driveline. It has only happened once. Happened around 18-20k miles on a ‘23 1794 with 30k on it, now.
