You are having an argument with an 8 year old that can't understand, 2 adults can have 2 opinions. It's the new age, grab that keyboard and stand your ground.......

That is a funny critique coming form you. Pot meet kettle or do you have no self awareness? Another new age problem.

Indeed it is, and here was I thinking Coaldragger was putting forth cogent arguments worth consideration. He (almost) always does.
Those of us serious about a '25 (or '26 at this point with a possible refresh) want to read from those willing to give the whole truth. Everything else is bullshit.

Agreed. I’ve spent some time in the new Tundra. The interior feels like the interior of a new Forest River travel trailer. If you’re into big screens, it’s great, but the ‘23 1794 I was in has interior panels that felt and sounded very thin and cheap. Seats were nice for sure. I was surprised by all the noise. My ‘21 has interior plastics that will scuff if you just look at them but my whole truck is still dead silent.

The Sequoia seems like it doesn’t know what it wants to be. Too small (with dismal cargo space) to be a Tahoe competitor. But it’s also not a 300 series replacement due to no full time 4wd or suspension goodies (like eKDSS or AHC).

Again as someone who went back (and to a used vehicle with 42k miles on it), I am blown away at how shitty the fit and finish of the 3rd gen is. Yes the gen 2.5 scratches easily, but this Seqouia, like all my old tundras is silent inside and out- no rattles, no squeaks (minus the damn TRD skid plate- need to fix that), and wayyy quieter on the highway even with a Thule box on the roof. Third gen was a COVID truck and it shows. New Seqouia is trash unless you’re purely using it for hauling kids or towing with 1 passenger, the room inside is a joke and they look like a minivan unless lifted (same goes for the gen 2 Seqouia as far as looks go)

I had a 17 Tacoma and a 21 Tacoma and the tundra seems just as solid as those trucks. I don’t have any issues with my tundra interior so far and I find it more comfortable than both Tacomas I owned. With comparing mid size to full size I know seating position and size are way different. But I haven’t noticed any rattles, loose pieces, broken pieces, etc. in the tundra and find it very pleasant to drive. I will say between the Tacoma and the constant downshifting the tundra is way more quiet than the Tacoma ever was. Loved my Tacoma as well just needed a bigger vehicle with a long bed. But between my comparisons between the two I don’t find any difference in quality between them. Side note, my 17 Tacoma was built in Mexico and my 21 trd pro Tacoma was built in Texas. I will say the 21 Tacoma was nicer than the 17.

That's too bad you're experiencing this OP. For the text reading feature, that should be more of a carplay issue and not a Toyota issue. maybe mess with the settings to see if it will read the texts to you.

My buddy has a 2019 Ford F150 turbo diesel and his turbo already went out at 40k miles. My 2024 Tundra platinum (albeit only 1K miles in) feels very premium and very smooth. I never feel the shifts. Maybe its just our experiences but my family has always owned Toyota's and have never been disappointed. We've also owned Chevy's and Fords that we got rid of because of many mechanical issues.

Good luck with your decision (if you haven't already made it), but hopefully you give it a chance and the camera issue gets fixed.

I understand OP , paying price comparable to mercedes you are expecting quality fit and finish. Unfortunately, it's just a truck.

I've had mine 2023 limited tundra for little over month and drove it over 4k miles. Had few gen 2.5s before.

Generally 3rd gen is nicer. Overall quality of gen 2.5 is better. I don't regret going to gen3.

Gen 3 major things that I don't like:
    Thin plastics
    Worst visibility than 2.5
Lower to the ground than 2.5
Feels more tacoma like - not as a heavy duty truck
    Bigger turn radius

    What I do like
    Heavy duty frame and suspension
    Great feeling engine/ tranny combo
Mine 3hen is very quiet- must be lucky- better than gen 2.5s I had
All tech, big screen, 360 cameras
    Amazing headlights
Good mpg compared to gen 2.5

I think overall gen 3 is good truck that is overpriced. It should not cost over 55k in any trim. For same money I would buy a gen3 over gen 2.5. For 20k to 30k difference- stick to the older one

Just wanted to thank you. I had a beyond horrible experience with a local dealer, on a TRD Pro Tundra Pre-order, 3 weeks before I accepted it. I hadn't considered RAM and had driven literally every other truck out there. I ended up placing an order for an RHO as a result and I owe it to you.

Don't feel bad about telling your experience. Maybe it will lead to improvements. I've been buying Toyotas for 30 years. I still have my 2011 Toyota Tundra that I tell my wife I want her to bury me in it. The 4.6 V8 in that truck has been right as rain aside the one recall for air induction which cost me nothing. Its 14 years old and I just put a starter in it for the first real money I have spent on it! AND MINE HAS TOW HOOKS! (who makes a four wheel drive without tow hooks?) (Please don't say "because of aerodynamics.... I ain't buying a Prius) I have long praised Toyota but that does not make me blind. They have had some lemons in the past (i.e. 1994 Supra) but they came back from them. IF they go back to the quality control before COVID, they can recover, but I will watch from the sidelines to see if they get there and hopefully they will.
That said I am no fan of turbos as they are and have always been notorious for failing and the "debris left in the engines during manufacturing" may be the issue or it may be something else altogether and I won't be surprised if the 2024s get recalled for the same in the future. I wish I could by a 24 Tundra Crew in a 5.7 or 4.6. but that is not reality. Unfortunately total engine failure is not the only issues they are having. Sites have people saying they have replaced 2 engines in 20k miles on new ones. I always buy new but Ill let them work out the kinks for the next few years . Those who say who cares its under warranty don't get that pulling the shell off a truck and putting a new motor in at a dealer is not the same as getting it put in at the factory, but they may understand it down the road. lol. I think I will buy a 2021 Tundra with low miles in a 5.7. All the lines are having issues right now. GM has DFM lifter issues and carbon build up do to direct only fuel injection. People are even buying disablers to disable the fuel management to preserve the lifters. That problem has plagued gm for years. I have several friends that have experienced the lifter issues but as long as they are selling, GM apparently has no intent to fix it. Sooo in short. I can't fault you for looking at alternatives till it comes back together for Toyota and no one else should either.

Well said. Had an 86 pickup my old man had bought new, drove it 250k and survived being repaired after a total. The old girl just couldn't survive her second collision ;) We have a 2006 Highlander bought new that I still use as my dog hauler and get around town car with 225k on it and still runs like a champ plus I never have to wash her and she shaves miles off our newer rides. She gets attention and takes the hits for the team. Just can't be upset about that.

At this month's Cars & Coffee, I heard about a 2021 TRD Pro with ~20,000 miles CPO sold for $65,000 in Charlotte.

I have to agree. My TRD pro sequoia with less than 15 thousand miles is the most disappointing vehicle I have ever wasted money on. At 2000 miles it purged about a quart of ATF, took to the dealer 75 miles away and they spent a week trying to figure out where it came from and just added some dye so maybe they can figure it out in the future.

It's heading back to dealer for a license plate that is on permanently. The light bar does not work either. Paint and fit and finish is poor all around. Stock tires are junk. Hands free is worse than my Jeep with the top off.

Will most likely trade this heap in on a Tahoe. I liked the idea of better clearance and tires that aren't low profile. Toyota used to build more reliable vehicles than American manufacturers but that is no longer the case. Really wish ai had spent some time on this forum first and I would have known not to buy one.

If it spewed transmission fluid all over he place during the test drive I would have passed. No I did not test every light or pair my phone during the test drive, sounds like you did and good for you. 2000 mile test drive will be my request next time.

I have a 22 TRDPRO and absolutely LOVE IT!
    • The text read/voice volume can be adjusted to your liking, so the stock setting is probably just too low for your liking.
    • Heat n cool seats come standard in the front only, not the rear.
    • As far as the interior goes, it's meant to be more of a "rugged" luxury
    • Transmission shifting with this truck is one of the smoothest I've encountered. I've owned a 2000 F250 for 15+ years now, and the 2 don't even come close in comparison.
    • Falken tires is what comes stock with these trucks, but pretty much "any" stock tire no matter what manufacturer you go with with always be an upgrade.
With your upgrades, those are your personal preferences that pretty much don't come standard with any vehicle (bedrug, ceramic coating, tonneau cover, cab steps and bed step, etc.) and are usually part of option packages. I am sorry that you aren't happy with your TRD PRO, but as with anyone, EYERYONE has their personal preference. After all, Toyota's aren't for everyone. But for those of us who are avid lovers of them stand behind their product.

I was on a 1 year waiting list for my truck just for the color of it alone, and to me, it was WELL WORTH THE WAIT as well as the money I spent for it.
Wishing you good luck with your Ford Tremor... as you will more than likely also find something with it that you will not approve of or dislike and will also make numerous upgrades to that one as well.
