I vote stay with the 2019 until Toyota gets all the bugs out of their teeth and they quit threatening warranty cancellation just because you bought aftermarket fog lights or a installed a TRD Pro like (which they are not selling you) performance muffler, etc.
Example: recently, a friend of mine purchased a Tacoma TRD OR 4x4 from Claremont Toyota in So Cal. He also purchased a lift kit from the dealer and had the service dept install it. The service mgr told him his warranty would be voided. My friend went directly to the owner of the Toyota dealer who was his friend. The owner immediately advised the service mgr the warranty would not be voided and directed him to install the lift without further delay. I guess it's who you know and sounds like a discretion thing. Not something you want to worry about every time you want to upgrade your toy.

In a side note the dealer called me and asked if I wanted to buy a Mudbath TRD PRO 25 for sticker of $81 plus k. I was like I will pass, my old ass needs massaging seats and HUD. If I was to get a newer Tundra it would be a Platnium TRDOR.

Jeez... If you put $81k into investment account, it will be like $93k in a year.

Who is paying sticker for any Tundra these days? I did when they launched but now they have 5-10k off and 2.99 percent,

Oh yeah 81k you could add another 24k to it and buy 1 bit coin. Then yoh would have a cool million in 5 years

there is a reason they are calling and looking for suckers

the time has past when there was a line of people ready to buy, my prediction, that will sell nowhere near sticker.

Thanks for this response. It was about the only worthwhile post in the entire thread for me. I use my truck 90% for towing so it sounds like it would be a waste of money to switch from my 2019 based on what you are saying.

That is exactly how I use my 2016. It’s used mostly for towing. I have floated the idea of going to the 3rd gen but because the 2.5 gen tows so well and very reliable, it’s just not worth upgrading. My truck only has 50,000 miles, I’ve added the tech needed to bring it up to date and even added leather seats.

My 2019 has about 32k and most of those were put on in the first 3 years. I'm really only concerned with payload. I looked at a 2025 SR5 today and the door sticker showed less than 1300 lbs after deducting the yellow sticker for options. I think I'm ready to give up.

Original owner of a 2019 with only 32k ...I'd keep it and be thankful :)

I'd be more thankful if it had a few hundred lbs more payload.

Yep, agreed. My '20 has 39k and I can't make the change either, just not enough upside for the hassle and expense.

i noticed that as well. I was hoping the new gen would have a substantial increase in payload. My 2016 is 1300lbs but I take that with a grain of salt. Our other vehicle is a Hybrid Maverick and has a payload of 1500lbs. How the hell does a tiny truck like a Maverick have a higher payload than my Tundra. I’ve had 2,000lbs in my Tundra without any issue. If I did that with the Maverick, I would need a new Maverick.

New 3rd gen owner here. Had a 2019 that I regretted trading and eventually made my way back to a Tundra.

Quick bit of info: the i-force max is the hybrid. The regular non hybrid us just an i-force.

As for trims and packages, it'll depend on what you want. Given that you say you want luxury without off road stuff that gives you 4 trims.
    1. Limited
    2. Platinum
    3. 1794
    4. Capstone
I have a decently equipped Limited, and the higher trims don't offer anything else that I want. You may be different.

What size bed and what size cab do you want? If you want a 6 foot bed I am 90% sure you have to go with a Limited. Maybe a Platinum cab double cab with a 6 foot, but I don't think so.

Next, do you want the panoramic roof or is that something you want to avoid like I did? Plat and above all have the panoramic roof, except maybe the 1794?

The Limited has softex (Toyota's synthetic leather)seats, and the front ones are heated and cooled.

The other three have real leather, heated and cooled front and rear, and some (not sure which) have an optional massaging seat in the 2025 model year.

The stuff you want will be the quickest eliminator of trims.

You could always check out the nice 2024 1794 Limited Edition for sale thread. Seems to be a good price if it's not already sold and as an owner I can recommend it for the comfort and ride, plus it has almost all the TRD Pro goodies on it.
