So I recently had the GCS cooling system installed by an independent shop which did a flush and used some other transmission fluid instead of the Toyota ws fluid. My truck seems kind of sluggish now and was wondering if I should do a drain and fill or get it to temp and check the level first? Also it seems the engine oil is overfilled which I plan on changing that anyways myself this time and see what that does.

    Too many, but not enough....
Go ahead and do everything correctly then see how it feels. And never set foot into that hack shop again.

I know doing a drain and fill won’t get all the fluid out but do you think it would hurt anything if I mixed fluids to get the proper level and continue this a few times over a few thousand miles to get most of the fluid changed out?

    How overfilled is the engine?

The engine would have to be grossly overfilled to be able to feel the difference… like it would be way over the full mark on the dipstick.

Depending on what transmission fluid was used, you would probably notice different shifting characteristics before a loss of performance. WS is not a super special fluid; Id bet the shop used a generic fluid like Valvoline Maxlife, which apparently has a decent following as a WS replacement fluid.

I think my last drain & fill replaced about 4qts (no cooler)

The engine oil is a bit over the full mark on the dipstick, I’ll check again tomorrow but I’ve never seen it that full before. So the trans fluid he used is supposedly a higher rated fluid than what the Toyota ws fluid is what he told me. He’s also a tundra owner as well but I wonder if it’s a level issue maybe

It would have to be multiple quarts over the full line to give you a noticeable issue. Did u try and scan for codes?
