I have a 2021 with 36k odo and it stuttered this morning upon cold crank. I’m guessing my battery is on its way out after 4 years and needs replacement. I checked under the hood and the battery states 27F but my battery replacement search keeps returning 24F as the proper size? Is this right? Thinking I should stick with what my current battery states. Can those with 2021 model year confirm their factory battery under the hood states 27F?

Check the build link in my signature.
    It came with a 27F.
You can use a 24F with same/similar CCA without an issue - it’s just a little smaller in length. But the original is a 27F

same here, OEM from factory on my '21 was 27F, but I just replaced mine with a 24F that had similar CCA and reserve as my original 27F. 27F batteries are difficult to come by around here for some reason.

Anytime I shop for batteries for my 2014 it always comes up 24F.
But the 'tow package' of the time provided a 27F battery.

If you originally had a 27F, you have a battery tray for a 27F, the 24F tray is a little smaller.
    I get batteries from Interstate..

Thanks for the responses! My local Costco has Interstate 27F with the same specs so I’m going to go with it.

If you like AGM batteries, there are lots of options in 24F. 27F AGM batteries are rare.

If you go AGM avoid X2 Power from Batteries Plus.
    They don't honor their warranty..

I traded this X2 in for a $30 core charge after under a year and told Batteries + to stick up their ass...

Yep, I saw a previous post (possibly 1lowlife’s) about poor support for the X2, and it’s one of only a couple 27F AGMs I could find. I switched to 24F AGM from Amazon. No core charge and arrived in a day. Three year warranty, though I don’t know whether it’s actually usable (hoping not to find out).

That's wild! I have had terrific success on the warranty from Batteries Plus...granted, they were pro-rated accordingly...there were a couple lots of batteries that didn't get the QC they normally got and with the wide-spread dispersant, they couldn't send a note to those who were affected...apparently...we've since had good success with the latest X2...I have x5 of them in my vehicles...I had more trouble trying to get an Interstate AGM battery and service than the Power X2 - But I live in a fake town...or, a town made by fake people...

I replaced my 27F battery with a 24F that had the same specs. It was lighter, easier to put in and performed the same as the 27F when it was good. The 27F is just becoming obsolete because they can now make the 24F with the same performance so why would you ever buy a 27F?

You do make a good point.
There is little advantage to a 27F over a 24F, other than the higher Reserve Capacity of the 27F.

But then I'd have to buy a 24F tray.
There is no way I could have the wrong sized battery tray in my Tundra...:eek2::rolleyes:

I actually have a X2 in my truck, but 31M, I know I know, not exactly what most would expect and I would not recommend going for 31M due to:

    1. It is actually not very common size, M stands for Marine, so it has two sets of poles, one regular 12V type and a marine type pole. You need to be cable to not touch both at the same time, ask me how I know....
    2. It is SUPER HEAVY, like F-ing heavy. It is 75 lbs and you feel every ounce of it when you lift it. :censored::censored::censored:
    3. Being a non-common size, I have to search for a bigger base plate, also source a new cross-bar and modify the J bar(?) that holds the battery in place.
    4. This possibly is the most annoying issue, the positive and negative is centered, so you will likely have to modify your cable a bit to be able to reach, especially your positive side.

I have this battery for 2+ years going on 3, still running strong with monthly overnight top off with battery charger hooked on.
But if this one starts to fail, I think I will downsize to 27F, but that also means a new plate and a new set of screws, small problems, I will think about it when I come up on it....lol

Save some money, you don’t need the tray. I see that the 24F Interstate battery has a higher CCA. The small difference in reserve capacity isn’t going to make any noticeable difference. I’ve had mine on for a year and a half and live in a very cold climate plus tow a RV in the summer. Never had any issues.

I'd have to have a tray, my OCD wouldn't allow me not to.
Besides the way Tundra batteries corrode, I'd rather a plastic tray be on the bottom than have the battery sit on painted metal..
    But that's just me..

Just use the existing tray. It’s really not something your going to even notice. Every one in while wash under the hood and you won’t have any battery corrosion. Mine looks like the day I put it in.
