    2006 Double Cab, Limited, 4WD with 189k
    Nothing, it's all stock
I have a new to me 2006 double cab limited 4WD with 189k miles on it. It has some frame rust and a few other issues, but I think I'm smitten already. It's so quiet and comfortable, I'm being thoroughly spoiled.

It was a Toyota corporate vehicle for a couple thousand miles, then my Uncle bought and drove it until about a month ago. He took good care of the truck, though he's not what I would call a "car guy". It's had good routine maintenance as best I can tell and came with a big folder of receipts. Timing belt was changed every 90k, oil every 5k. It's in Texas now, but it spent the first 15 years in Baltimore and then 5 more in Florida.

It does have some frame rust, though what I have seen on my frame is nowhere near as bad as a lot of the pics I have seen online. The invasive rust seems to be localized to the front rear spring hanger area on both sides and then a couple feet forward underneath the rear doors as well. I'm researching my options to repair these areas and I'm pretty optimistic.

My son turns 15 this August and this will be his first vehicle. The truck seems to be mechanically sound and reliable, but with plenty of smaller things that we can work on together so he can learn how to fix and maintain a vehicle instead of paying someone else. The deal is I will pay for the parts, but he's doing the labor while I assist and advise.

    Anyways, that's my spiel.
