I park my Tundra in the barn in the back (weekend use currently). This morning my wife took it to Toyota for an oil change and out came a lone mouse. What do y'all recommend as a preventative for this? I also have a Kubota tractor back there as well. I don't want the mice to be making a home in my wires.

Airbox with K&N Filter, 2" lift on 33's, Alpine iLX-F309 head unit, Pull out bed tool boxes, brown with black trim, rims, etc, black leather interior, matching topper. Muffler delete (too loud..) 62k miles!!!
Barn cat. Most shelters provide them for free. They are considered feral but the first one we got ended up being a house cat no one appreciated and he was out unofficial greeter to airbnb guests and visitors to our farm until an owl or eagle got him.

Bounce fabric softeners stuffed all over and peppermint oil have worked for me, at least the short term.

There are a few threads on this issue that can be found with a simple search on "mice" in the 2.5 Gen forum. To keep mice out of the cab, a screen installed in the venting system works great. I know the specifics of installing the screen is discussed in detail in at least one of the threads.

I had mice problems getting into my engine bay on a Gen 2 Sequoia, replaced the windshield washer hose 4 times. I tried pretty much everything that was listed on the forum to no avail then I bought the automotive version of this. It kicks on when the car is off and emits ultrasonic sounds and has flashing LED strobes. I mounted it onto of my battery clamp and haven't had one problem in almost a year. Low power drain so if you drive regularly it won't drain your battery however I would go with the AC setup if you store it for long periods.

Don't listen to thos guy. I was doing the same thing until it didn't work. Get Mousetraps and renew regularly with peanut butter or whatever mice love. You dont need prevention, you need control.

If you find a mouse that is determined on making a house in your truck, it will use those peppermint cotton balls as air freshener in its nest.

I only got 1 mouse setting 3 traps for about a week and a half. I gave it a break for a couple months and set traps again with no mice being caught. IMG_2724.jpg

I’m still puzzled how they got corn kernels inside the console lid. I would hear something make noise when I opened the console lid. So, I took it apart to find corn kernels in it. There’s a very very small gap at the hinges. But I can’t see how ya could get a kernel to fit. Plus I have the lid down when I’m not getting something. What you see is the inside of the lid. Mice can be mischievously creative. I used peanut butter on the traps. I didn’t catch any mice inside the truck. IMG_2721.jpg

Snap traps or a barn cat are your best bet. I've had great luck with the snap traps, one on each corner of the vehicle.

Grab a good snake. Open the front door. Welcome it home!

    :D!

JK. I saw a video where someone did that and the snake, while keeping the mice out of the vehicle, made a home. Took a mechanic to pull the snake out. It would duck back up into the dash and stay tucked up in there.

The other advice on there probably is better.

You need to ride the NYC subways, they are the size of cats.

It's half the size of the shovel! I was going to say I need to get out more, but now I'm afraid to :D:eek:

Time to acquire barn cats. Nothing better for pest control. I suggest starting with 2-3
