I park my Tundra in the barn in the back (weekend use currently). This morning my wife took it to Toyota for an oil change and out came a lone mouse. What do y'all recommend as a preventative for this? I also have a Kubota tractor back there as well. I don't want the mice to be making a home in my wires.

Barn cat. Most shelters provide them for free. They are considered feral but the first one we got ended up being a house cat no one appreciated and he was out unofficial greeter to airbnb guests and visitors to our farm until an owl or eagle got him.

Bounce fabric softeners stuffed all over and peppermint oil have worked for me, at least the short term.

There are a few threads on this issue that can be found with a simple search on "mice" in the 2.5 Gen forum. To keep mice out of the cab, a screen installed in the venting system works great. I know the specifics of installing the screen is discussed in detail in at least one of the threads.

I had mice problems getting into my engine bay on a Gen 2 Sequoia, replaced the windshield washer hose 4 times. I tried pretty much everything that was listed on the forum to no avail then I bought the automotive version of this. It kicks on when the car is off and emits ultrasonic sounds and has flashing LED strobes. I mounted it onto of my battery clamp and haven't had one problem in almost a year. Low power drain so if you drive regularly it won't drain your battery however I would go with the AC setup if you store it for long periods.

Don't listen to thos guy. I was doing the same thing until it didn't work. Get Mousetraps and renew regularly with peanut butter or whatever mice love. You dont need prevention, you need control.

If you find a mouse that is determined on making a house in your truck, it will use those peppermint cotton balls as air freshener in its nest.
