Popping open the 2nd headlight. Then today or tomorrow will restore the lenses in preparation for the resin next week.

    Headlights complete.

Forgot to take pics and such during the resin but that wasn’t exciting anyways. Just hurry up and wait.
I used a product called Liquid Art Ultra UV Epoxy. From what I searched this appears to be a great choice to reduce the yellowing of the epoxy over time, and also has a higher heat resistance. I used an epoxy resin tape over the face of the lens which worked perfectly to trap the epoxy into the hole, and maybe I just got lucky but ended up a nice flush smooth edge with the lens. I tried to get rid of the bubbles, heat gun actually made it worse by blowing a tiny bit of epoxy out of the holes (oops). Did get rid of some larger ones and just hoped the smaller would continue to rise up and out as this stuff has a 72 hour cure time. The mixing cup I used cured clear, but the lenses kept some small bubbles. Really not all that bad though. The holes did remain more noticeable than I had hoped for, but also they come with a story now.

Everything works great on them! There’s a small connection at the bottom of the headlight that if left unplugged makes the turn signals sequential which I wasn’t aware of when I got them but am pleasantly surprised!

I need to fine tune the adjustment on them, but overall stoked on these and I can’t believe how bright the DRL is haha.

Found a great deal on set of Toyo RT I couldn’t pass up. I had two sets of this tire between my two Tacomas, and it has been my favorite of all the tires I’ve had over the years. Hopefully will feel the same with them on the Tundra

After Christmas I was set to head home from my brother’s place, but we haphazardly crafted a rough plan to go camp at Joshua Tree for the night. He was headed that direction the next day anyways, and added a fun adventure to the drive. Yielded an opportunity to try the new tires in the dirt, and I am very happy with them! Truck did great, the trails there are mid travel paradise haha

That's sweet! How's camping out there? Never been and would to take kami, looks like a great spot for star gazing. Didn't even know there were trails out there :D

I’ve never camped inside the park, only the BLM outside of it, but it’s cool! Definitely a great place to see the stars! Yeah loads of trails to find old mine shafts and stuff, so watch where you put your tires haha. Next time you talk to Danny, ask him about “Chili Town” lol

This is the first time I've remembered to pull the ABS fuse and I will never forget again, felt like I unlocked the truck! Absolute game changer doing that as the brakes actually work offroad, and best is the traction control is completely 100% off. Truck is so predictable and fun to drive this way! Made for a very fast and fun rip down poleline and fish creek :burnrubber: (had to gas up after the first day with an avg mpg of 6.2 )

    And for the pictures -

Almost done with some recent improvements.

Got a rear bumper built by Nick at Eighty% offroad. https://80percentoffroad.com/
High clearance, with a hitch. Very happy with how it turned out! He also added a whip mount on the passenger side corner, mounted the trailer wiring plug, and then instead of tabs for dust lights he drilled and tapped two holes which I thought is a cool way of doing it.

    IMG_3862.jpg IMG_3864.jpg IMG_3880.jpg IMG_3891.jpg IMG_3870.jpg IMG_3878.jpg IMG_3872.jpg

Instead of mounting my plate to the bumper where it will inevitably drag on something I opted for the tailgate. Found a cool light that also has a brake light function. That’s all wired up and working.

    IMG_3901.jpg

Then got some chinesium S2 knock offs that are mounted, but I ran out of daylight and will finish wiring them up tomorrow then zip tie the new wires up and out of the way.

Ooooo I dig the light whip mount, let's see one on there :D
Out of curiosity how's the angle on those rear lights, might they drag on a rock?

Haha there will be for desert trips.

Unlikely but anything is possible. The bottom of the light is above the cross bar, so they should be fine. They’re also $40 on Amazon so if one breaks it isn't a big deal.

Went to Calico this weekend and man was that fun! Truck did surprisingly well given it's open/open, and I'd definitely like to go back with gears and a locker. We tooled around a bunch and eventually ended up on Doran, one of the waterfalls claimed my buddies' inner tie rod. Overall awesome time!
