For a cold rainy weekend the wife and I agreed to do nothing but grow roots in the couch watch movies and get take out and for me not to lift a single tool, other than a fork.

Well that went to shit at 0400,when the hot water coil in AHU3 that feeds the kitchen at work shit the bed...

Not to much damage other than a few gallons of water,Isolated and drained out residual water,re shaped the breach sanded it down and brazed them shut un Isolated filled her up and called it a morning.
    C ya!

On Friday I got the ground work (leveling etc.) done for my wifes vegetable garden. Saturday and Sunday I worked on laying and leveling the concrete blocks. I was able to get the perimeter of both plots finalized and "glued" Hopefully be able to finish stacking the blocks this week after work.

The blocks are almost 35 lbs each and I moved about 100 of them. I was definitely moving some serious weight. I lifted every one and then I was mimicking doing a combination of "goblet squats" and "standing rows" while try to place them and level them. Huge full body workout, especially being bent over like that. I did this twice because I laid everything first and then got it level. Then I had to go back and glue every one together.

We rarely have wind in our area and it's typically not more than a breeze. These oak trees just grow kind of funky. The ones that don't get a large single trunk and have multiple smaller trunks get tall but stay skinny and then lean like in the picture.

Did have one snag collapse on me and fucked up the saw bar. :censored: It also fell over the fence and narrowly missed the neighbor's chicken coop. When these things get dead and dry, they are more fragile than a house of cards.

How about a GPS locator in his wallet, a necklace, something he won't take off, or put it somewhere on his person for when you are not there?

So I live in a rural area, not like middle of north dakota, but 20-30 minutes from a real store. Anyways, our local HD just finally started doing same day delivery and I love it. I have only had to use it twice, once being today. I have to do some raking in some area's they re-routed the irrigation system but it was so wet they left quite a mess. Need a fancy landscape rake to do it correctly, but don't want to drive an hour after a day of cutting wood and cleaning up cement board. So it should be here within 3 hours, and I can get going bright and early before the hydroseed crew gets here around 8. Might sound silly to some of you, but its really something else for me!:bananadance:

    Lucky!
I guess on the bright side whenever there's a large item (like a tool chest, or work bench) that doesn't have free shipping I can call and have them deliver via freight for free since the nearest HD is 90 miles away.

Getting permits for our shop and had a bit of a headache with them. I think it's clear now after 2-3 days of back n forth.
This is why people don't get permits.
Can't wait to get the shop done. Been waiting about 9 years for it

It seems like HD and Walmart are stepping up their delivery services to compete with Amazon and the like. I ordered a few small tools from Depot and they were delivered the next day via DoorDash.

mine never came. going to have to use a regular metal rake.:( too good to be true I guess.

Edit: Now to add insult to injury. I left the house at 5:30 so I could go grab one at 6 for opening. Rushed there and back, raked like a mad man for an hour and then called the guys. "Oh, we forgot we said today, we can come tomorrow"

Actually a blessing in disguse, it is very wet still and its going to be almost 60, full sun and very windy today. So I'll rake the hell out of it all over again this afternoon and hopefully get it in great shape for them.

Picking up my new lawn mower this morning, very excited about that.

Yeah...It's kinda tough to do anything on your own in my neighborhood.
If you do it better be up to snuff for the neighborhood!!!
Back in the Day I did a lot of my own work.
These days we pay the approved contractors.

    We have year round irrigation.
-10°F winters and water don't mix.

I've got a large 10" pipe that goes over the valve up to the surface so I can turn it with a valve key.

    Just like this one.

Yep, my main comes out of the ground up about 1.5' and into the house. It's still a good idea to wrap it with a little foam just in case we get a freak cold spell.
