I've run ditch lights on standard hood mounts on a number of trucks. I never really liked looking at the back of the lights when driving and having them sitting there behind the pillars. Light reflecting off the hood isn't an issue because they're...ditch...lights...meaning I have mine angled out and down to illuminate areas like....a ditch...or drop off.

Anyway. I found these brackets that mount under our mirrors. I ordered them and chatted with the folks there. Seems like they are still in a quasi development stage but, what the hell. They arrived and looked nice. Lightweight aluminum with a nice powdercoat. I held them together and hmmmmm, one seemed a bit longer than the other. I did not take pics...I know...I should have. It's hard to describe but they just looked a bit asymmetrical. I emailed them and was told it was due to one of the mirrors sitting at a different angle, so that's the design Wait...what?

I went to the shop today and pulled the Diode Dynamics SS3s off the Rago brackets. I had some DD SSC1s left over, so I wanted to install 2 lights per bracket. Due to the location of the inner mounting screws, I elected to pull the mirrors off and install the brackets on the bench. Fitment was nice on both sides. The ONLY issue I have with these not being the same is that the passenger bracket is just under an inch shorter than the other...maybe 3/4". I reinstalled the mirrors with the brackets on and...nice. The furthest end out seemed to be a tiny bit flexy but, even with 2 lights on each, they hold up pretty nice at highway speeds. No wobbling or vibrations. I'll test them at night this weekend with the lights on. Any wobbles will be more evident then. I combined pigtails for both lights and ran a single pos/neg wire between the door crease and up into the engine compartment behind the fender. Pretty clean actually. The mounts have a few different slots, so positioning single or dual lights is easy with many options. You could even put one underneath. Mounting flexibility is definitely a plus. There's also a hole to mount an antenna, if you were so inclined.

The best thing for me is that you cannot see the lights at all when in the driver's seat. They are completely hidden behind the mirror....super clean. So far, I give these 7/10. I'd bump that to an easy 9/10 if the lengths were matching. Since they're hidden, I'm hoping to fool my OCD into forgetting about it. I did reach out to the company and told them my thoughts. I'll follow up with their reply. Would I buy them again? Yes. The design, set up and placement far outweigh the little bit of wonkiness in sizing. The only thing I'll keep an eye on are the screws. The brackets are definitely secure, but I may dab a bit of blue Loctite on them. I'd also thought about putting a small piece of vinyl or something to serve as a gasket between the bracket and mirror. I decided not to as the fitment is toght enough to not worry about any rubbing between them.

I turned them on in the shop and angled them to my liking. They should illuminat eeverything from the fender straight out, then arching around including the area left and right of the doors. These are areas I have issues with on some of the mountain trails I run in CO. Some are a bit tight with weird switchbacks. Again, testing in the dark will tell if I need to adjust them a tad.

Nothing like being able to pull the door panels and not give a shit if you break clips.

Hard to tell, but you can see where they are shorter. Everything sits back just a tad.

Cerakoted another one while taking breaks from my favorite thing...12v. Color is Earth...kinda weird to be honest.

    Update on these.

I chatted with the folks at Westcan about fitment and they made some adjustments (not just based on my input alone). They sent new brackets which had a tweaked design and the fit and finish on these was perfect. As they'd look similar, I won't post new pics, but these things are good to go. Also, the hole I stated was for an antenna...is not. It's for cable routing. Either way...super pleased to be done with the A pillar mounts. I paid for mine...so not a free promo or advertising...just passing it along.
