Has anyone done a front brake conversion on second gen tundra like on first gen? I've read posts about swapping lexus rotors and calibers on first gens, is it possible to do that on a second gen? My truck has 60000 miles and I'm on my third set of rotors. Two sets of OEM and have napa premium grooved rotors now. All have " wraped" within 5000 miles of install. I have Wagner oex pads. No towing and I have taken the truck to local toyota dealer. They had the truck for about 3 hours and did not find any reason for.the issue. They waved the 200 diagnosis fee. Any help would be great.

I wished they had an upgrade like the 1st gen. I did the upgrade on my 1st gen and it was a huge difference.

It’s not normal for the rotors to warp that fast. You’re either really hard on brakes, or you’re driving with your foot resting on the brake pedal, or you have stuck calipers or something. General consensus is factory rotors are better than most aftermarket. Alcon makes a killer upgrade kit, but it’s $$$.

Thanks for the info. I know this is not normal. I drive a ford f150 for work. 82000 miles same rotors and brake pads. I can buy a lot of $100 rotors for a $3200 big brake upgrade. Very frustrating.

The rotors and calipers on the tundras are the same components used on the equivalent Lexus suvs. The reason 1st gen’s gained from a larger rotor is because the brakes were small to begin with. These trucks come with a 14” rotor. The oem rotors kinda suck. I’m going on 60k miles on my Stoptech High Carbon slotted rotors. Still smooth as can be when braking. But I am using oem pads which does make a difference.

I have 106k on my oem brakes...sounds like your calipers are needing rebuilt or the slide pins lubed up...
