    Yes,
However I shopped prices for the extended warranty. Before finding Jerry with the help of this site I priced out between my local dealerships that helped me realize the mark up prices for the extended warranty’s.
With a Toyota warranty I had a zero deductible and if work had to be done I also received a free loaner vehicle.
The additional coverage cost is well worth it on these vehicles. Which is also transferable if you are selling outside of a dealership.

I’m right there with you. I’m priced out of the new Tundra. I’ve never had a car note and have only paid cash. But I simply can’t stomach the price.

The rental 22+ I’ve had are very nice, I genuinely like them. I’m a bit uneasy on the reliability, but I’m confident Toyota will have that worked out.

Cars across the board are becoming so expensive that most people don’t have a choice but to finance or lease. It seems that’s the name of the game, most people will never actually own their car.

Regarding the extended warranty...I didn't have one for my 2008 or 2015 Tundras, and that turned out to be the wise choice, financially. I did purchase the extended warranty for my 2023, however. I just wasn't as confident about the unproven reliability of the 3rd Gens. And with the cost of parts and labor these days, the extended warranty was cheap insurance to me.

    Mattedfred,

I actually did use my extended warranty on my 08 Tundra. I had vibration after hitting a deer at 50 mph. I still had availability through my car insurance to add the driveshaft replacement but Toyota insisted on using my extended warranty. So the driveshaft was replaced with zero out of pocket on my end.
My 17 Tundra was actually purchased by my friend who just so happens to be a Toyota mechanic so he benefited from my warranty as well.

I must tell you that my recent purchase of a Toyota Platinum warranty for 7 years and or 125,000 miles was purchased for under $1,900 bucks. I was quoted by my stealership for over $3,000 bucks for the same warranty.
In my opinion it was a no brainer.

1.True, but when APR rates were dirt cheap it was wiser to finance vehicle and invest sum into market than the note.

    2. False. You will own the vehicle at the end of loan, usually within 60-84 months. Unless we get to the point of multi-decade loans for cars. You are right in the sense that most may trade before paying off loan and it's a never ending cycle ...like a lease.

Rates are not low, car prices are through the roof.

And most people foolish enough to have a 60-84 month loan are trading in their cars way before that and upside down. The cycle is exactly what I meant, the majority of folks are in perpetual debt.

That strikes me as a good deal but with insurance, the house always wins.

    Nothing yet
Isaiah, see your point. I have a 2023 1794 edition that I absolutely love. However I live under the shadow of a new turbo charges engine. What I mean by that is the engine does not have the insane reliability record that the 5.7 has. It may turn out to be a huge winner but won't know until I get there. I put my trust in the fact that Toyota typically does not put out a product that is unreliable. If my engine does go 200 , 300 K then this is a huge win. This truck is amazing in every way. The gas mileage, comfort, features are off the charts in my opinion.

I agree, hope your truck does prove to be a reliable as the 5.7 but for me I don't see any value in adding 20 or 30k in payments just so I can have the newest, latest and greatest. My truck does everything I need/ want it too.

My comment wasn't meant to slight any of the 3rd gen owners, it was just my perspective.

I finally decided to trade the Superduty and get back into a Tundra. I drove to the local dealership who had a 2020 CPO 1794. Pics were beautiful and the price was too good to be true. The truck smelled like someone just smoked a cigar in it. My wife wouldn't even get in. So I decided to test drive the 2024 sitting next to it. I was determined to not like it. Dang - it was nice...and now it is sitting in the driveway.

Yup, I can attest to that too. these new vehicles these days cost way more to repair than buying ext warranty. luckily we had ext warranty in our honda odyssey and replaced the tranny thus led to a tundra
