Quick measure shows an additional two inches of clearance!

With the steps there was 11.5”, without is 13.5”!

Ugh, 2 trips to the dump. The missed wanted me to remove a few Indian Hawthorns from the front yard. Bonus though, I got my occasional 4WD in to lubricate the system.

My headlights were getting a little foggy/pitted so I decided to restore them. This is the second time I’ve done this. This time I used the 3M restoration kit and holy crap it works great!!

Big Booty Judy was due for an oil change...might be the last of the 0-20, but I still had a few 5qt jugs left from a bulk purchase a few years back.

Love having a lift to throw her on to give a good once over.

 

A lift sure makes putting a salvaged truck back together fun!

Think about it. A lift cost about $2500 , or the same as a couple sets of wheels and tires. If you are in your forever home, and have no intention of stopping wrenching on your vehicles, get a lift. You WILL NOT have strong knees and back after your into your late 40's.

Yes, I'm posting garage porn, but want to point out the not so obvious as well.

 

One of the requirements of our new place is a high bay garage w a lift...2 post or four, but definitely want a lift. Thankfully I have my "man cave" garage that a few buddies and I share for our projects, and love being able to work there.

With a two post lift, do you use different heights for front to rear? I've noticed mine, with the same height uprights, lifts the front, then the rear.

 

Yes, I add the small spacers along with the tall spacers all the way around to the rear pads.

On my '08 its not an issue, but the '21 has running boards that get in the way. I actually don't like the running boards. I think they are going away.

 

I’m so jealous of those with a lift. My house came with a shop but it only has standard height garage doors and roof. My tundra clears by a couple of inches. I’d love to raise the roof 6-8’ and throw a lift in it.

 

Get the asymmetrical 2 post and its easy to open doors and lift even...most times, rear shocks have more stroke than the fronts and bendpack has bushings or spacers that make it easy as can be. Also, angle your arrangement so it's nit squared up in your shop and you gain valuable feet and inches to maneuver other toys in. I asked 10 people what they'd change with their lift setups and everyone said one thing similar, "angle the lift" in the shop. Best, and by far cheapest edition I've always wanted. I share it with friends and colleagues if "they're cool.enough."

#2 - I’m in my late 40s, just about 50, and not only have a strong back & knees, but probably haven’t been more healthy in my entire life.
My point, fuck you both for having a lift and for being young. And, eat well and exercise and take good care of yourself and if you’re lucky you’ll be OK for a long while.

 

It ain’t the knees and back that hurt. It’s the rolling around on the shoulders that’s killing me.

 

Can you post a graphic or layout sketch? I'm building and will be installing a lift, but I never thought about what you're talking about.

 

Here's what I did, though the fans were placed differently...

 

In all seriousnous, these mid height lifts are the best of both worlds. I actually have one and it gets used much more than my 2 post lift. It lifts our trucks very easily. Its easy to move around. I love moving it outside when the weather cooperates. The second favorite reason is I dont have to suck in my gut to get in and out of the cab. The dambed post doesnt allow you to get out of the truck because the door hits the post. I end up going out the back door most of the time.

The post do get in the way at times and you aint moving them.

You do not need 12 foot cielings to use one. a standard garage works just fine.

The scissor lift also makes a perfect workbench after you toss a cheap piece of plywood on it. I'm actually watching the marketplace for a second one. I want to put it in the house garage for random wax and interior cleaning work.

You don't need extra thick concret to use one either. I like sitting on my roll around stool working under the truck. Its a nice change from standing.

Give it some thought.

 

I'm in my mid 40s...made a wierd, good decision in crypto and realized the gains before taxes were ever a question on it...pure luck! I always have done my own maintenance and what always held me up was fitting under my cars and comfortably doing the job...I looked up what things cost, drew up a plan and hot damn, it cost less than I planned! The bee's knees lift cost me $5k installed (installed myself) with all of the goodies! That's $100/week saved to make happen! "Easy," if you can forgoe a car payment!!

Which one of these do you have because I’ve been seriously contemplating one. Between the rzr, k5, tundra, and Durango, I could certainly use a lift of some kind.

 

Finally installed the door handles I got as a Christmas gift!

if I knew it was only 48 seconds per door, I would have done this much sooner!!
