I think you are 100% right. I'm definitely not ready for full glass fenders yet.... seems like alot of work and money to get it just right... maybe when it's paid off in the next 2 years. I'm pretty sure I'll be completely satisfied going from my stock look to the lift and 35s. And I'm definitely going 17s, it's 50% more sidewall and that alone should have a big difference in ride quality combined with my setup. Just alot of options out there to choose from, and I can't decide on color of rims, I'm torn between, the red methods, a few bronze colored ones, and I even dig the bahia blue methods as well. And of course anything matte black with a little bit of machined on the lip with colored bolts. And then there's tires. I torn between the General grabber 35x12.50R17LTs and the BFG KO2 ATs 35s, or go M/T like the grabber x3s. I want it astetically appealing but don't want to sacrifice durability and longevity. There's jut to dam many options these days.

Don’t ever stop asking questions. We all started off with zero knowledge and asked a shit load of what sounded like dumb questions, but they weren’t dumb questions.

You can run 37s on a stock suspension and fenders if you wanted to. Just takes trimming inside the fender well. And you have to do that eventually anyway if you did go LT and 37s, so that wouldn’t be throw away work.

To run 35s with almost zero modification, look for rims in the +20 to +30 offset range on an 8.5 wide.

Fuck BFG. There. I said it. Their sizing is soooooo optimistic. “37s” from BFG measure at 35.5”. (I used to be a huge bfg fan and ran them for almost 20 years)

If you’re doing a shit load of miles, you want something with lower rolling resistance. As nice as MTs look, they will hit your wallet every mile.
Toyo RTs have a slightly better rolling resistance and still look “off road”, plus they are extremely round tires. Seems silly to say that, but after trying many different tires, the Toyo balance easily with very little weight, and wear the best I’ve seen.

+1 on the Toyos. I’ve been running their new RT Trail for a while and am very happy with them.

I do agree with the BFG 37s looking like a 35. Couple people I work with have the 37/12.5/17s ontheir raptors and they look tiny for a 37, so I believe you 100% on that note, but BFGs Ko2s handle awesome in all terrain from my experience. But I will look at the Toyo RTs for sure.

I don't mind doing any modifications to the wheel wells, seems like the look I'm shooting for will require it anyways. Im getting pretty close to pulling the trigger on some 17" by 8.5" Methods(the red 305NV with matte black lip) with 0-Offset with the General Grabber 35x12.50R17LTs, just keep going back and forth on 37s or stay 35s. If what you said is true about the BFG 37s being a larger 35 that would cure my itch for the bigger tire.lol

And i will always keep asking questions, I for one am not scared to ask away for things I want to learn.

Thanks for all you help and professional insights. It's greatly appreciated

And fyi, I actually prefer and like the look of a taller tire with lots of sidewall that's not as wide per. If I did that what size tires should I be looking for instead of a 35/12.5, to obtain that type of look???

I e seen some guys get metric tires that are skinnier and in the 35” tall range, but I don’t know enough about them to give a particular size.

I use this site a lot for size stuff. It’s a cool site because it shows you similar sizes and also actual tires that exist in the sizes you’re looking at. You may find that some of the prices are lower for sizes you didn’t think of.

2 year thread revival here. Your truck looks sick. I’m in the market for new wheels and these exact ones are on my short list. Pardon my ignorance here: is the 0 offset the only thing that pushed your wheels out so much? I want a bit of a wider stance. I know long travel gives a wider base, but I’m happy with my mid travel setup for the mild off-roading I do. Do you happen to have any “head-on” shots of the truck?

Sorry! I actually sold my truck a year or so ago and got rid of all my build photos so I’d stop looking at them!

Yes, just the 0 Offset wheels brought them out as far as you see in the photos. I will say, with the fenders they were about flush with the lip of the fender. So they didn’t stick out past the glass.

Just be aware you’ll have to do a Cab Mount Chop at the least to run a similar set up.

If you have any other questions, feel free to shoot me a PM and I’ll help you however I can.
