Anyone familiar with or have access to 4Runner wiring? What i am trying to do is replace the rear view mirror in the 2016 with one from a 2020+. The 2016 has an old school style mirror that you have to manually flip the tab for night dimming. I have no idea why it doesn't have an electric auto dimming mirror. I found one from a 2022 for an excellent price but I'm not sure if the 2016 has a harness or connector above the headliner.

I found an auto dimming mirror in a junkyard and installed in my tundra. As long as it is getting power and ground it should work. You can look up the wiring pinout depending on the mirror model.

I wired mine straight to the fuse box, but in retrospect there may have been some keyed-power in the overhead console I could have tapped.

I have not...I'll read through it....thanks. The 4R forums are slower to reply so I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here since the are plenty of 4R owners here too.

The 2016 Pro has an auto dimming mirror. Maybe that p/n is compatible?

I'll look at the part number and see if it shows fitting an SR5.

What my 2022 4R harness looks like, it’s a style where the connector is on the windshield and not behind the mirror. Either way that 4runner thread looks good!

For sure, I've got a Pro (only reason I knew about the mirror haha) when I get home I can see if I can find that connector and get a pic.

My 2016 dimming mirror has the same two wires. Don't know if that helps.

I added a Gentex auto dimming mirror to my 2001 tacoma that also had the fully manual flip type before. It was pretty simple. All it has was a power and ground that I routed along behind the headliner and down the a-pillar. Then I used a fuse tap into the inside fuse panel. Doesnt really matter which circuit as long as its on while the vehicle is on and off when its off. https://www.amazon.com/Gentex-50-GENK2AM-Auto-Dimming-Rear-Mirror/dp/B00PHLM3EI
