Pepper 4.5yrs got a new friend, Charlie 4.5mo. Both females. Yes, the older one helps to train the youngster.

We lost two of our dogs within a couple of months of each other.
We had decided to put off getting another for a while.
Our daughter works at a vet clinic. She called us and told us someone brought this guy into the vet to be put down because he was too energetic. The vet refused and took him in to find a home for him. He had been there 2 weeks and no takers.
So, waiting for a bit didn’t happen and we picked him up.

Named him Doc.

 

This happens to much. Good for you saving him. My 2 labs were throw aways.

 

This is 3 in a row for us. Our retriever we lost showed up in our garage on Thanksgiving. We gave him some water and food and assumed he just got loose while someone was visiting family. He showed up again at Christmas. Much skinnier. He had heart worms so it looked like he was dumped because of that. We got him patched up and had some good years with him.

All our pups are used, previously owned, and dumped.

More appreciatitive of a loving home, imo. They give us 10 fold, what we give them, in my experience.

Losing my pups kills me, more so than any humans I've known

The Wife and I have rescued several Boxers from Boxer Rescue.
Some of the best Dogs we've ever had....
It's like they know you saved them from a questionable future.

 

We try and name our Dogs with names that resonate in American History.
The Male is Christopher Gadsden and the Female is named after Betsy Ross.

Well, meet Dave (shelter name).

My wife saw a plea to save his life as he was scheduled to be put down at 1 PM yesterday. She sent me some pics and I said yeah we have to get him.

He's got some health issues, of course. Pretty sure he's got kennel cough, but that is treatable. He's going to the vet tomorrow. We really don't know what his mix is - his paperwork says Catahoula mix.

He's definitely bigger than Magnus was and they weighed him in at 67 lbs but he's so skinny. This guy will probably get to 80 lbs or more I think. Will get more pics in the days to come.

The cone is due to his neuter surgery so he's really hating life right now.

He had the best life, sorry for your loss. Don’t forget all the awesome times you had together.

 

Its truly nature's cruel joke that dogs don't live two or three times as long as they do. Even when they live a long, good life, we're never ready to see them get old and pass on.
