Just a revtek 1.5" leveling kit on the front. I want to install airbags in the rear for towing my camping trailer. And I also want to find a nice ARB Locker Kit for the rear and if necessary I'll consider up front as well but not mandatory.
Looking for recommendations for my 2016 TUNDRA CREWMAX TRD 4x4.

This is a 2 part question... 1. Anybody have any positive reviews or testimonials for ARB Locker Kits specifically for this tundra generation vehicle?

    2. A rear Airbag Kit rec. for the same vehicle for towing my camping trailer and not have the rear of my truck sag; as I have installed a revtek 1.5" leveling kit in the front only.

Any and all opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Welcome Paolo. I think @ColoradoTJ would be able to provide some input here.

Any reason a limited slip wouldn't work better for you vs a locker?

There are lots of options, airbags, good Load Distribution Hitch, Sumo, Timbren, new leaf pack...etc.

    Colorado,

I'm glad you asked this question. I've had a personal experience last year while up in Montana back country (Ennis) on my annual elk/deer hunt in November. With the limited slip diff pkg that's on my tundra, I got into some heavy back country snow driving nice and smooth, but after about 20 miles in, I found myself stuck in some snow track rut, despite trying to dig out my wheels several times as well as using tree shrubbery from a tree line about 100 yds away to put under my tires for some added traction, only to fail again n again and ultimately falling to exhaustion of cold weather, altitude, and expended energy after several hours of trying. Essentially I had to spend the night in the woods in 12* weather (in my truck of course). And my limited slip did exactly that. It slipped and wouldn't get me out even in 4-low.

I'm "green" up there (California Kid) although I've been hunting up there the past 10 years and I only know this after the fact because the following morning after hiking out about 12 miles b4 thankfully coming across a few snow mobile hunters along the trail. They were kind enough to gimme a ride back to my truck, hooked up both mobiles to the rear end and as they pulled collectively, I punched in reverse. We thankfully got it out and I went back the same way I came in, slow n low.

After the fact, they joked that I couldn't be from around here. I asked them what gave me away?

They said cuz they have heavy duty diesel 4x4's and they wouldn't have gotten that far with their trucks, let alone try it. And at this time a year, this back country is for horseback and snowmobile for those that know it. We laughed. I offered them dinner in town that night for their awesome gesture.

Back to subject. Sorry for that wasteful 5 minutes. I've read and watched testimonials and videos on YouTube of limited slip diff 4x4 vehicles that installed at least a rear ARB Locker and some did both front and rear. A bit overkill for what I get into. I'm not trying to trick out a long wheel-based tundra for rock climbing or anything like that, but any how.

After watching those videos and seeing a limited slip 4x4 perform to sub standards in some moderate terrains and conditions and then seeing the same vehicle or similar ones with the ARB engaging and locking your differential instead of having the stock limited slip differential.... man what a difference in performance!

So at the end of it all, there was a kind gentlemen that referenced you on this subject and here I am wanting to see if anyone had experience with brands for ARB Locker Kits for my Tundra 2016 model?

Well, I just so happen to be from Montana and you definitely were lucky to stay alive by being prepared.

Your factory "limited slip" is no more than your brakes applying to the tire without traction. Your differential is open, and in my humble opinion, sucks for most anything other than shallow sand and dry dirt.

A true limited slip is actually pretty bad ass for all situations except rock crawling, which I hope your not attempting to do. I can't talk crap though, my GMC has a locking differential until 20mph. I hardly ever have to use 4wd.

ARB is the only other option that I currently know about other than the Auburn LS.

Some advice if you do go ARB:

    - Have at least two coils of line wrapped up someplace in your system.
    - Carry at least one ARB line splice. Sooner than later you will burn, rub, or cut the plastic line. A razor blade and a in-line splice remedies that issue rather quickly, and having the extra coil of line ensures you have enough.

I ran ARBs for years. For the most part they are bullet proof and very reliable. It comes down to installation of the cooper tubing, the hole drilled and tapped in your axle housing, and who does the job. A good installer will make life with the ARB a dream. A crap install will make the Pope drop the F-bomb. They always fail when you need them the most.

I hope this helps a little.

Oh, just to make you feel at home in Montana....lol.

Hahaha thank you for the hospitality, Colorado. I feel welcomed already. For the record, I still live in sunny southern Commyformia. Born and raised. Your Montana state is beautiful and the people up there are equally awesome man. I know I may stick out like a sore thumb in sweat shorts, flanal and surfer beanie at a gas station in the dead a winter once or twice but I have a lotta respect for how you guys handle and run things up there. I come for solitude, a little peace and quiet with a few family and friend hunters, as well as taking in the bautiful landscape and if at the end of it all, we don't bag a nice deer or elk (almost impossible btw, unless you're a questionable shot), the trip itself in Gods Country is worth it, alone.

After speaking with several local hunters up there and understanding that you guys don't usually go to your local grocer to buy a few steaks, you guys get your steaks between the crosshairs especially for the cold winters. I admire that deeply. See, I go up there for 10-12 days outta the winter and sometimes is face hurting cold. You guys bare that entire winter sometimes at -20,30 below. It's a survival thing for you guys, for me it's a bit of a vacation albeit work if you end up bagging an animal anyway. And for that, I have nothing but respect for you Montana folks. As well as the land, but especially the people that make it such a great place.

Thank you very much for all your pointers. I will def take them all in.

. And I'm not the hipster, hollyweird, cali-protesting type. I work for my keep. No entitlemet here. I grew up hard the way my parents raised me to be respectful and appreciative for everything I have and be respectful for those less fortunate than I. I grew up between Italy and here and fishing and hunting with my grandfather and father on both continents. But I will say this... Cali is getting worse and worse man. SMH. These people are friggin lunatics with their protesting BS. Alright, I'll get off my soap box now. Rant over.

Lol. Your good man. I also came from CA as well. We just like giving you Californians shit.

I wouldn't go back to MT. The winters are rough. Hunting is great. I never came home without meeting our limit. Always had 4-6 animals on the trailer going home, hung them up for a week, and the processing started.

Quite a few CO members on here are originally from CA, and I haven't met a one that is what we generally think of Californians. Atta boy for you Pablo!

I found the Auburn for sale on Jegs but a chat with "the expert" said it wasn't comparable with 2016 tundra. I'd like to do front and rear.
