When a bigger load is applied, it creates a bigger magnetic field which it has to push harder against to spin. That puts stress on the bearings in the pulley.

Fan is slow to start and squealing. It's git a bad bearing. I'm replacing that, but wanted to check the other components while I'm here

Ultimately, the best bang vs. buck option is another Colight bulb, or similar brand, you'll see these pop up under various names. Colight doesn't build these in-house, they're buying from the same factory Braveway and others are. Colight is recommended because you actually have a means to cash in on warranty, there is support for the product. Colight has a few options available and adds a new one every 12ish months, not sure if they have any without fans anymore. I would recommend to avoid any multi-color bulb options they offer.

Only other alternative is to retrofit better projectors in, go full retrofit. Issue with the latter is, as @tpope sort of demonstrates in his photo, after 4 years, his housings are starting to get foggy, leaving a couple of options for the money spent: Sand and clear every-other-year from here on out, buy the same brand/part number housing and bake off/on a replacement lens, or migrate the projector over to a new housing. Whereas, with the mini projector, when they inevitably die after 2-4 years, buy $50 pair of new bulbs, clamp in a new bulb, call it a day.

He undoubtedly gets waaaaaaay better optics and output than the miniprojectors. His longevity will easily be 3-4x whatever we get (if not more). His is the far superior option.

I will say also, I know a couple of people on here who purchased pre-retrofitted houses, didn't build them theirselves. And were very unhappy with the output. So there is a bit of risk involved going full-retrofit as well.

I didn’t show both lens.. They came from Rock were 2 different manufacturers. Aged differently. But yeah the plastic is yellowed and needs work.
The light output is still fantastic. The install is not hard but attention to detail when temporarily installing the units into the housing and ensuring that they are aimed correctly with a good cutoff is key.
Not rocket surgery. If you can do the timing belt… no worries

They had some sticker “160 SPL Inside” in the Intel format, but they weren’t playing anything.

Here was a different vehicle a few spots away.

I love me some car audio. I love me some old school SPL builds. But these are just, over the top? Cheesy? Cram as many speakers as possible regardless of what it sounds like? I just can’t get into it.

Best part? It started to rain. All the fragiles with their superexotics and anyone without a roof was rallying to get outta there. It was a mess, 300-400 vehicles trying to leave a mall parking lot at the same time.

I think this is what rolls down our street on occasion. The house windows rattle and all of the car alarms go off. The low grade moron that drives it is probably proud of himself.

Why the hell does it take transmission shops so long???? Truck is still in the shop, they really haven't done anything to it even though it's been a week.

Both trans shops I've taken it to were like this. Not having access to a vehicle to get to work has been a pain in the ass. Hope there isn't an emergency or something at home, I'd have no way of getting there.

So anyone familiar with Bob the mirror guy's harnesses? I lost the instructions and need to know what to do with the red and yellow wires.

I sent an email, so now we wait. But I figure someone here has wired a power mirror to an AC/RC.
    It's a Gentex 651

    Air gap vs insulation?

    IMG_0564.jpg

Are the center panels needed?if theres airflow, would an air gap work better or worse than r-4.0 foam? 3/4” thick. What about holding heat in with no airflow?

the other part to this plan is a bubblewrapped piece of cardboard tv box. Center panels for scale.
    IMG_0566.jpg
i dont know the r value of the bubblewrap, but its not much, but any tape to hold the tentpoles, will stick better to the foil than the cardboard.

My catless zx6r popped flames when i wasnt running the muffler.

the nova had a short enough exhaust & big enough carb i could make it pop flames with the ignition switch. Once it started, i could keep it going for a while, but the purple hornies were definately caked in oil.
