I have a 2016 crewmax platinum that is having trouble with the trailer being detected when I hook up my utility trailer. It was working but would lose signal while towing and flash on the screen. Now when I hook it up, it won't even detect it but all the lights will work and function like normal. I selected electric brakes on the controller but still nothing. I know there was a TSB to reprogram the ECU but it appears that was for 2018 and 2019 models. When I plug the trailer into my wife's Yukon, it detects it like normal so it has to be something with the Tundra. I pulled apart plug and cleaned but it was in really good shape.

What provides the signal to the ECU that the trailer is connected? Does it go through the BSM system for the side mirrors? I did change the mirrors out a few months ago but the bsm lights don't work on the new ones so I just leave the button off.
