What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

It's the 5x8 straight pull canopy from Roam. I think it was around $320 shipped.
I mounted it using the Ironman QD mounts. I have mounts on both sides, so I can easily swap it depending on where I park. The mounts are attached to the Rhino Rack bars using L brackets and T nuts in the bar channel. Super sturdy without any wiggle when mounted.

Hey guys, long time lurker, first time posting.
Didn't want to start a new thread for this Q;
I have an 05 Access Cab, somebody localish to me is selling a Coastal Offroad front bumper kit for a 2004 Sequoia, any chance it's compatible without too much modification? Looks to be still in the shipping packaging.

Figured the regulars here might have the knowledge on this.

What part of TX?

 

It’s one of the (less than 100) 1993 hardtop U.S. market cars. Completely bare except the glass is still on it and some odds and ends. Clean title. Saving it from the scrap heap. Going to tidy it up and work toward a 3.5l with a VW DSG transmission


The whole truck bed is loaded with full suspension, a crossmember, 2 doors, a hood, and 4 wheels for this trip. Lol

 

Howe Texas. Basically a mad dash there tomorrow, sleep, get to shop where car is cross car together and rush back home.

Installed this Jensen CAR723W from Crutchfield with wireless CarPlay (and a volume knob!) in dad's 03 AC. He didn't like the Master Tailgaters mirror, so I sent that back. Initially, he didn't want CarPlay, but now that it's set up, I think it's growing on him. This is the foundation for his backup camera.

 

i’d have thought they would interchange, but coastals website has em seperate, ac/rc vs DC vs sequoia. Not sure how much modification would be needed.

Yep, that was my thinking as well. Also noticed the sequoia grill has a little drop down where the tundra is flat across, it seems their sequoia bumpers are relieved for that.

I'd love to hve a volume knob. It's my one major gripe about nearly every higher-end head unit. I feel like two absolute basics you must have: Volume knob, and wireless AA/Carplay.

I recently picked up the ilx-W770 and need to install, to finally get wireless carplay. It pisses me off though, Alpine sells a pair-able volume knob for their out-of-dash-screen models, but don't offer such a thing for the ilx-400/500/600/700 series head units.

Well from this angle it looks good, haha. If I ever paint my truck im probably going with a gray like yours. And getting rid of my door protector strips on the side. I hate them so much, haha

Got to do truck stuff today. My buddy is building a house and cleared his lot. Unfortunately he had to take down a few red oaks, but we are gonna try to mill them into some lumber for furniture and stuff. So the road queen got nice and muddy. Even used the 4LO for the first time to shove the logs around in the mud. I did bust off my trailer plug. Oops.

One thing I noticed when slipping and sliding around in the mud - I guess the traction control kept kicking on? It’s the annoying clicking noise as I was sliding around. Is that traction control? And why the hell does it turn on in 4wd, that seems dumb. Or maybe I’m just dumb.

 

Current status:

 

I thought only a small percentage of these trucks had traction control. And I thought it was only on 05-06 models. Are you sure yours does?

Clicking can be a bad CV axle.

 

As I get into this job and observe things... One standout question is...

Does my crank sensor need to be in the center of the hole? Or is this normal?



Additionally...

The sweat along my upper oil pan... I thought it could be from the crank seal but dang it's looking dry. Thoughts? I'm in the process of pulling the cog... Kinda don't wanna change it if I don't have to... Paging doctor @shifty`

 

Not sure about the leak residue- but I can say that all four of the UZs that I have changed timing belts on, that crank sensor has been not centered in the hole. Normal.

 

As @FiatRunner said, it's normal and doing it's job of seeing the crank position. The bolt definitely is not loose and if you ever had the need to remove the sensor, you'd see it is what it is. While it does have an o-ring, it's not causing the sckew look. The aluminum guardian is doing it's job also.

As for my crank seal.. bone dry on the back side of the cog. And on the oil pump.

Ugh maybe I'll just replace it anyways.

 

Thanks for that picture. Changed out my oil pressure sensor today with a supposedly better reading sensor for kicks and grins. The red circled plastic clip was dangling but safely away from serpentine belt. I could not see what it might snap into but pic helped.

 

Finally got off my ass and updated from the

$280 ilx-w650 7" double DIN touchscreen digital multimedia receiver with bluetooth, apple carplay and android auto

ilx-w650 to the w770.

I'm confused on that one, b/c I definitely see there's oil above the weep hole, which kinda suggests it's something dumping oil inside the tming covers.

Looks almost like bank 1 cam seal may be leaking into the timing cover, and running down the edge? Follow the edge up, is it oily the whole way?

I was thinking today about replacing the Kenwood I bought my pops for Xmas with a Pioneer layer this year. I let him pick the Kenwood, but I wish I'd have picked for him. I only use pioneer screens and have had a lot of good luck with them over the years. The Kenwood has no display settings and he can't see the backup camera very well. I don't think it's the camera, because it's the master tailgaters handle combo. I have that brand on my tundra and it's super clean picture
