Hey everyone. Thought I would pick someone’s brain here. Long story short. I bought out my 2020 tundra lease and kept it in my company. I was going back and forth whether to lease a new tundra or find a good old trusted 2.5 gen. I found a 21 pro with 46k on it thinking I had found the perfect truck. I’ve put about 5k on it and now the engine light has come on. Brought it into the Toyota dealership and they said it shows a cat converter below threshold. The guy brought up the history on it and it looks like there has been a few issues with it earlier in its life. New fuel pump, oxygen sensor and another cat converter. These trucks are bulletproof my 20 has 160k and have no issues. Anyone have any educated thoughts? Could it be bad fuel used in the past?

Could it be possible that it was stolen and an aftermarket was put on and now is failing ? Back then there was a time when it was hard to get original equipment Cat from Toyota but plenty of aftermarket.

Verify it has the original cat. Also check what kind of oxygen sensors are there. All must be the same brand of who made the engine computer, i.e. Denso in this case. Denso to Denso, Bosch to Bosch, Siemens to Siemens.
