Looking to upsize to a Sequoia from a 5th gen 4runner. Wanting to lift it approx 3" and looking for the best trim level to lift, probably no bags etc. Will likely end up with bumpers/skids/drawers/roofrack etc. Mostly used for exploring and towing an offroad trailer.

Think something like this but bigger. :)

Platinum, 15 to 17 or the 18 to get the facelift.

Don't let them tell you the air ride is bad, loaded up and towing it's the way to go.

honestly since you are buying used, condition and miles should matter much more than trim. You can change about anything trim wise for the 2nd gen as long as you start with SR5 trim or above.

So get the best condition truck with the miles you are ok with and then mod it as you like.

Have not heard air ride is bad, just know that bags in my runner to tow with have caused articulation issues for me, thought it may cause issues when lifting 3+ inches.

The Sequoia air suspension actually has more articulation than the coils. They are quite a bit different than the overload airbag set-up.
