I towed a trailer for the first time today with my 2023 Tundra. When I unhooked the trailer, I am still getting a "trailer detected" message and the RCTA remains off. I suspect some sort of user error on my part, but cannot figure out how to remedy this. Any thoughts will be very welcome.

I doubt user error. Sounds like an electrical / software issue. I’d try pulling the negative terminal and seeing if resetting the ECU helps.

Thanks.....the messages ended up clearing themselves the second time I drove the truck after removing the trailer.

    Nothing yet
Had this issue today. Deselected trailer and RCTA came back on. Selected trailer again and no longer showing “trailer detected”

No. That’s how it works. Rear cross traffic alert won’t function properly if it detects something behind it, like something you are towing. So it turns it off.

I had a similar issue in my last truck which was an F-150. Turned out water/moisture had gotten in the connector after a car wash. Thoroughly blew it out with compressed air and then slathered a good bit of di-electric grease in it, never happened again.
