Sweet 2nd gen

 

Changed oil in my 2000 AC and my Suburban this afternoon. Last oil change noticed a couple spoonfuls of oil under the filter/cooler. Figured I would try some

$21 AT-205 Re-Seal Stops Leaks, 8 Ounce Bottle

AT-205 which @shifty` recommended before tackling the figure 8 gasket with last oil fill. I was a bit skeptical about AT-205 but this time my skid plate was bone dry. Thanks again @shifty`

 

Across around 5 hours and my entire rear axle falling off my jack i finally got my entire bilstein 5100 lift with the 3” in the front and 1.5 add a leaf. along with my new wheels. I’ll take a better pic in the morning

 

How did you get 3" with Billy's up front?

 

I'd assume OEM springs with billies set to top notches (stiff AF, had this on my Tacomas) or 3" lift springs paired with billies

 

Thought they only went to 2.5" with the stock springs?

I think on first gen Tacoma they went to either 2.5" or 2.75"
I know it was a popular mod to use the first gen Tundra billies on first gen Tacoma for more lift.

 

Checked old measurements and looks like AC did likely get 2.75" off top notch with OEM springs....

 

I got about 2.25” on the fourth notch with TRD springs on my AC

 

I hate to be "that guy", and I know we all hate reading the instructions, but Bilstein explicitly says to avoid the 4th notch with stock springs on the AC/4WD, which must mean you should really avoid using the top notch.

Look, I know @KNABORES reports no major issues with running on 4th notch. But I think you'd probably hafta not give a fuck about your truck running on the 5th notch. I can't imagine that's what @MacFixes did, but I've seen a lot of other equally careless shit on this forum, especially from the younger crowd, so who knows...

Digging back into recent archives...

Hey, I have a couple questions. Are you able to reach the grease zerks on the shackles with those new hangers? And how tall are the Archive Garage bumpstops (assuming that's what you've got with your u-bolt flip kit)? I just put new leaf springs and Total Chaos shackles on my truck. I also have Sumo Springs, but I'll be adding air bags in the next couple weeks. With air bags, I don't need the Sumo Springs, but my stock bumpstops are gone. It may or may not be a smart move, but I'm considering just sawing the Sumo Springs down to a stock bumpstop height, or maybe just slightly taller. But I'm not sure of the right height.

Truck is on a slant and whatever settling is going to happen with the new HD leaf pack hasn't happened yet, but here's how it sits.

 

I have the TC shackles and no you can’t really get to the grease zerk, I ended up getting a 90 degree zerk to replace the straight that came with them.

Food poisoning got me late Saturday....felt like death through this morning....struggling today. I did get a pic of the new mirrors. No more vibrating glass and the Raptor lined caps turned out pretty ok. I'll pop my color matched caps off the old mirrors...but probably keep these for the time being.

 

Looks good. For the raptor lined side mirror caps, did you apply with the mirror caps attached to the entire side mirror assembly or did you remove the caps? I've got satin black vinyl wrap that I am planning to apply, but I like how you did this so I'm reconsidering

 

I bought new mirrors from Rockauto and they came with the caps off...so I sprayed them before I snapped them on.

 

That's why used Eibach with stock coils for up to 3".

Just installed front seat jackers. I feel like I'm driving an actual truck now. Great product. 5 min install. Worth the money.

imma keep it a buck, i have no idea how high the lift is specifically. i didn’t even jack with the notches. i just assembled it and put it on with how to clip came originally

 

New calipers. It’s been so windy I didn’t realize how bad it was trying to drive through the brakes. My dumbass also forgot to prep these and went straight to painting LOL.

Rear door rattle not the usual black tape on the catch fix. Had just located a pen to fabricate covers and found this.

Looks like the card had popped off at the top corner.




Reseated these two clips.



And fit the plastic back round the weatherstrip.
