New member here in CA. Wife and I have a tacoma we camp out of on our dirtbike trips. We are looking to buy a V8 4wd 8ft Tundra double cab (not crew max) with under 75k miles. Not a whole lot out there. Once we get the truck I plan on adding a camper on it that our dirtbikes will fit inside

Those are pretty rare. I think I've only seen 4 since 2007.

Just to clarify I am looking for the double cab not the crew max 8ft bed
I see a good amount for sale around the country. The only one I have seen here in CA the guys seems to be asking too much for. I'm gonna go talk to him though next week. There are a few here in CA but only 2wd. I'm debating those

Nice find! Interested to see how you build it out. As I’m sure you well know from your Tacoma, there are many a rabbit hole to fall down, but most of them lead to a good time.

Bought some things. Black out emblems, tint, front bumper, headlights, grill/bulge, wheels and tires.

First up, congrats on finding your truck! Hope it serves you well.

Second, look at the payload sticker in your driver door. Depending on bikes, passengers, and gear you could be overloading it. Tundras are known for having low payload capacities, but you did get a configuration that will be higher than many. Though, with the mods you've made you've taken a bite out of it that needs to be accounted for.

Final bit of info, in the V8 generations of the Tundra, you can't get a crew max with an 8 foot bed, so we knew you wanted a DC. :p

Thanks we decided to buy a smaller camper due to the payload. I won't be able to stand up in it but only weighs about 450lbs compared to 800lbs. We are gonna go weigh our truck today to see how much payload we have left.

I thought the crewmax 8ft bed was a special order option from Toyota?

Good to see you're aware of it and taking steps. The 5.7 is worth the lost payload though. I kick myself for trading my Tundra.

Toyota doesn't do special orders. I'm 99% sure the only 8 foot Crew Max trucks were custom built, but not from Toyota. I could be mistaken, though. Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.

Nope. Toyota never built an 8 foot crewmax. Those are specialty shop hack..., er um custom jobs.

That's what I thought. Heck, they didn't even do the 6 footer crew max until the 3rd gen trucks.
