The 6.5' bed fits two full size motorcycles with the tailgate shut, the total length of the truck fits in a standard garage, I do not have children.

We very much enjoy our 6.5’ bed and also fit our truck in our garage. My wife and I are retired however when we carry rear seat passengers we have to move the driver seat up a bit. A double cab works for us.

You know what a dog and a Harley have in common? They both love riding in the back of a truck.

Real question: what's the purpose of a crewcab when SUVs exist :D

The garage I use for the Tundra (double-cab) has only 1" at the front and about 1-1/2" clearance at the door and I'm not kidding either. It takes me a few minutes to park it. I have front wheel chocks and guides to help and I have a large piece of cardboard at the front to check clearance. What a PITA. But I like my Tundra double-cab. I don't need the back seat room but wanted the bed length. I have an F250 extended cab work truck with an 8' bed in another garage and a crew cab wouldn't fit there. Different strokes.

Coming from a '05 DC Tundra, the new DC with a 6' bed and 6" added to the rear seat leg room would be sweet. My 6.5 CM is kinda yuuuuuge.

Depends on your usage. I transport dogs and beach gear in the bed. Seldom anything in the backseat. If I could have found a SCLB it probably would have worked even better for me.

I wasn't about to buy a full size pickup that couldn't fit bicycles in the bed, so a crew cab was right out.

I prefer the look of it over the crewmax, I needed a minimum 6.5' bed coming from a Tacoma I wanted to do more with the truck so it was mandatory to at least have a slightly larger bed. I fit a queen mattress(bit squeezed) under my tonneau cover the other day in the rain for transport. I can still carry 3 adults with me semi comfortably.

I thought every biker with a pickup had the essential tailgate pad/cover to hang the bikes over?

Believe it or not, some of us actually have uses for a 6.6" bed, rather than the Honda Ridgeline sized 5 footer. :D

For me, it is to get a 6 1/2 ' bed without a mile long truck that has a back seat that I don't need or want. My real preference is a regular cab with a proper eight foot bed.

I came from a Ram with a quad cab and a 6.5ft bed, so I'm actually enjoying the extra cab space. I've always said if you own a house you need a pick-up. That being said: as I get older I seem to be outsourcing more work around the house. I guess priorities change as we get older.
Also, I have a Harley Road Glide Ultra, and there is no way to fit two of them in the back of a pick-up. Just getting it up there would be a monumental task without assistance.

I don't have kids but bailed on the idea of the double cab once I started thinking on the back end of ownership ie selling. So I went crewmax with 6.5 bed great truck but it is a rolling barge.

I don't travel much with more than my wife and myself. If we have others, they will have to deal with the limited space in the back seat, I won't... LOL

And the look of the DC with a 6'5" bed is quite badass looking IMHO

If anyone is curious a 22+ crewmax long bed is 16.7 inches longer than the gen 2.5 crewmax. I wonder where that other 4.7 inches is? Is the hood longer also? It definitely isn't in the backseat floorboard.

All cosmetic so far see my posts in 2nd gen Black out chrome in progress….
My son is 6’3” and back seat in my double cab he has plenty of legroom. Having 6.5’ in the bed is nice. With the tailgate down a full 4 x 8 sheet of anything fits perfectly.

At least they fixed the door handle on the 3rd gen. That mismatched door handle on the 2.5 double messes with my OCD.

My old DC sat 5 adults just fine, but I went to a CM when I needed to fit 2 child seats. Now I’d be totally fine with a DC again and the extra bed length is a big plus for hauling.

The doublecab rear seat used to be comfortably inhabitable on the 2/2.5, it does look fairly unusable for humans to sit in the back of now on the 3rd.

Uh, well it’s a truck so it can be used for multiple things, truck shit, unlike the crewmax, which is an SUV with a tray on it and is really only useful for getting groceries or taking the kids baseball team out for ice cream.:burp:

No offense op but asking what the purpose of a double cab just points out how much the truck market changed, trucks used to be single cabs with 8 foot beds that was used solely for the bed to work out of now the majority of pick up truck owners are soft hand soy boys who go to Starbucks and order fancy drinks I can’t pronounce

My 2014 DC has plenty of room in the back seats for passengers. A lot more room than most cars out there. The bed holds all the camping stuff I take when camping. Plus I usually put stuff on the rear seats too. When I camp, it’s the wife and I. Works for me. I view the crewmax as a truck for over payed white collar office employees going to restaurants for lunch getting 1/2 tipsy.:proposetoast:  Never using the bed for anything.

I’ve owned by a crewmax and currently a double cab I think the crewmax looks better but after owning a single cab Tacoma with a 6 foot bed I just couldn’t make the 5.5 ft bed of the crewmax work. I camp out of the back of mine and that extra foot makes all the world of difference
