Could I just cut at the back to find the brace? Leaving the rest of the liner?

That sounds like a much cleaner approach. Wish someone will develop a template that you just put it over, mark the holes, make a small incision and you're done with that part. Slap the new console in and you're done.

Agreed. Think I’m going to look at others installs, bolt my front up, draw a few lines where I think it is and cut just there. Then adjust the cut back or forward. I feel like this might help the roof panel fabric stay tighter. Although, the storage bins might need that space to close.

Well I think I miscalculated this. See my yellow X. These are not flat as the bottom edge of the console therefore they will need the room to go in so a larger cut is necessary. Unless the console can push the panel back and it won't bold when you tie it in? I doubt it. But sure go and experiment and report back :)

I can say you will almost definitely need to cut the entire area out. The headliner is fairly rigid, and you need the room to push up towards the roof.

Console is finally getting delivered. Did you bolt the front up, hold the back and trace with a pencil? Trying to figure out how to trace without having the pencil show after while also keeping it straight. I may be over thinking ha.

That’s what I did. I angled the pencil at about a 45 degree angle inwards when I traced it to give myself some slack when I cut my headliner so I could make small cutting adjustments.

That’s what I did as well, and while holding it at an angle I stayed about 1/2” inside the console. After loosely bolting up the front I sat in the back seat and eyeballed for straightness. I used the existing rear dome light as a reference. Then checked the pencil marks with a tape measure from the doors. Good luck be sure to post pics.

Got the new console today. Doesn’t have any wiring, but I’m transferring my old one over so that should be good. It came with all the clips. So I have 2 extras now. Downside the driver side plastic is a bit warped near the light. I can push it back with my finger. Is it worth using a heat gun a bit and holding it to see if it takes shape?

Cuts weren’t perfect, but it’s up. Fits great. I do need to trim the back a bit more to clear the clips. Then that tiny gap will be gone. Harness swapped out super easy. Also no mic needed to be moved. Thanks all!

CM. From what I’ve seen the double cabs end up with a small gap due to the rear light being replaced with the console light. Some have come up with interesting fixes using a patch or something. There’s a few previous posts about it.
