Does anyone have a dash cam they can recommend? Look to pick one up.

Lots of info already on this on the Forum. Where here are my thoughts......

    You have two options.

OEM, I think I paid 350 for the kit a few years ago. Install wasnt bad, not exactly full of options but looks ok and works.

    Aftermarket....

I have 3 rexing cameras in other vehicles. They work well. Priced in the 150 or so range.

Purchased a VIOFO unit a few weeks ago for my GX460. Install was about the same as rexing.
(unit looked like an updated rexing and was a little more money, so why not!)

For me I purchased the hardwire kit for my cameras as that enables the ability for parking lot protection.
I would NOT recommend buying aftermarket usb kit, I had one and it provided full usb power all the time to the unit.
This was draining the battery if the vehicle wasnt used for a week or two.
Running cable down a pillar was easy. Used the fuse splices to connect continuous power and ignition on power to the usb cables.
Never really liked the cigarette lighter plugs, unit only works when the vehicle is on in that scenario.

Units that stick on windshield via a suction cup, blah. How many times in the heat it loosened up and I had that thing dangling in the wind.

All units now use 3m tape and stay put.

+1 for the FitcamX, and if you get the "Sienna" parking cable you can keep constant power for parking mode, rather than going to the fuse box.
