While installing a 3.5” lift, the entire process has been 2 steps forward, three steps back! Let’s not go there right now, please!

So now, JUST ABOUT done! However, for the life of me couldn’t get the Driver CV joint slid into the shaft. I didn’t use hammers, only my hands and arm to try to align the shaft…
    Meanwhile, the CV boot splits!

So as I remove the Boot and inspect the CV joint I see the large steel bearings sitting in the axle hub! WTH?!?!

    I already ordered the Boot!
Now must I order a CV Joint too, or can I put the bearings back into place?

I did view that video, he took off the entire shaft and housing to replace the boots. His bearings came out too, so my CV Joint should be fine.
However, must I pull the shaft and housing off the diff? Or can I assemble the bearings and boot back into position without the extra work? ie: Third step backward.

My vote would be to pull everything on that side, clean and pack with new grease. And since you're already there, swap in the ECGS bushing.

Is the needle bearing also an issue on lifted tundras? I did the mod on my old 2020 Tacoma and will be lifting my new to me 2021 tundra.

    Lifting can certainly exacerbate it.

I am pulling the shaft out this morning for inspection, cleaning, new boot, grease and reinstalling! Wish me luck!
