Modifying an AR Barrel Rod/Bev Block for MCX

    I recently have been trying to find a reaction rod or similar fixture to be able to secure my MCX Virtus and Spear LT barrels for changing out muzzle devices. I have a Magpul "BEV Block" for a standard AR that works great but it wouldn't fit into the lugs of the MCX barrel.

    So I got to looking at it a little closer and realized that there was what appeared to be ONE lug in the barrel extension that was slightly off from all of the others. After trying a few different rotations of the barrel to check things, I decided to go after the BEV Block with a dremel tool and see if I could make it work.

    After shaving about 1/2 of the thickness of the "2 o'clock" lug (when looking at the front of the BEV Block) off, it fits perfectly in to the lugs of both the Virtus and Spear LT barrels and holds them rock solid for torqueing on the muzzle device without damaging the receiver.
