I did one at 500 miles. Will do second one at 1500 and then every 5000 thereafter.

Ok, thank you guys- just want to get the first one right because I can’t go back in time and slip an oil change in

I did 500, 2k, 5k, and every 5k thereafter. Most think it’s overkill but I thinks it cheap insurance and prevention. I may never know if it matters but when adding it in to the overall cost, it’s minor in the big picture

    That's my plan too. 800, 2k, 5k and every 5k after.

    Nitrogen filled tires!
I'm pretty sure you meant 1K and not 1000K! If you wait until 1000K I'm pretty sure you won't need another oil change!

I did one at 1500 miles, one at 5k and every 5k after.

I did all the early & preventative oil changes
on every brand new toyota (& 1 corvette) I purchased over the past 20 years
    (2006 xb, 2008 xb, 2009 xrunner, 2011 xb, 2012 frs, 2012 tacoma, 2018 rav4, 2021 taco)

When I got the 2022 tundra I was very busy framing a home, so I opted to follow the manual & go with every 10k OCI to save my precious time in 2022
    & I never did the 500, 1000, & 1500 mile early oil changes

    I currently have 125k on my gen3
Have done 12 total oil changes in 3 years
Did a blackstone analysis at 120k
Looking good with 10k OCI & no early oil changes

I prefer being in the driver seat rather than under the tundra

To each their own, but I'm happy with the 10k OCI...I remember a dude on tacoma world with gen2 taco with 360k miles & 10 total oil changes....his OCI was 36k, that's wild!

I'd agree. changing oil is cheap compared to having to replace a motor.

I'll do my first oil change when Toyota replaces the engine around 10,000 miles.

I did mine at 2,500 all highway driving. I used the wrong size piece of hose on the oil filter drain and it got inside the front crossmember which is taking forever to drip out even trying to flush it out with Brake cleaner. I used 3/4 heater hoes without measuring it whereas it takes 5/8 hose on the filter drain. I also found the front air valance was in the way to remove the oil filter so after doing the work I found out in the manual that you have to shut the engine off and pull the wiper selector to mist so the valance deploys so you can reach the bolts on the bottom engine cover. I'm pretty sure my lack of being prepared was the cause for the wrong hose size and not reading the Dead Sea scrolls aka the manual to find information to make it more simple.

I’m with you. I’ve always just done what Toyota recommends and if it’s 10k it’s 10k. Never had a single issue on three different Tundras.
