Tailgate delete - PVM and backup camera options

Hey yall, I'm the guy who makes the cable to extend the rearview camera. I am designing a cable for this camera, I'll keep you posted when its ready.

The second camera in the tailgate is for the backup assist:

 

When do you think it will be available and will it include the backup assist?

 

Initially its just going to be the backup camera since that's the same pinouts and cable as my current kits, just with a different gender housing. So far the requests ive gotten have been from people with just the backup camera sr5 trims. I haven't hooked up a trailer yet, can someone tell me what the other sensor does for backup assist? What happens when you block it?
I still need to take mine out to get started on it. Once i have it out I can tell more accurately if its feasible to move the second sensor

 

Ok yea I just need the camera for now. Cannot see anything out the back with my camper on and the rear camera/PVM just shows blackness.

 

I need one of these too. Please let us know when available.

Can someone without the 360 camera option please take a picture of the camera connector to the left of the spare tire under the truck. This is the connector on the 360 camera trim. Need to confirm its the same...

This is what I bought and installed on my plate. Now when I pull the camper out I don't have to relocate. Review: Image is not as good as factory , but it works! its stored in my RV barn so I cant report on waterproofness.

 

I also started down this road and stopped. It's too confusing and expensive to mess up. Any one know of a harness being made yet??

How is this working out for you? I don't want to remove my rearview mirror. It has some lights in it and a wire coming out of it. Does that mess anything up?

It's working great. Boots up and turns off automatically when turning on/off the engine. Not sure about the wire coming out of the rearview mirror, mine didn't have any.

 

Hey @GG.Offroad - Have you been able to make progress on the tailgate backup camera harness? I will have a slide-in camper next year and am planning my options. I want to keep the factory camera systems as much as possible. I'll be getting your digital rearview kit as well.

 

Any updates on this harness from anyone? I'm installing a rear tire carrier and need to relocate the tailgate camera.

 

Was the cable shielded with an aluminum wrap around all the wires? Did it have any braided wires around it also? Or was it just 5 independent wires in the sheathing?
