I have a 2010 Tundra, SR5 4.6 V-8, 4X4. Recently the CEL light came on, along with the 4X4 lo light blinking, and the skid light on. This also puts the truck in a safe mode where it just limps along. I've taken it to 2 different technicians to fix the issue. However, they just clear the CEL along with the other lights, then the truck runs fine. But give it a week, or more, and it happens again. What in the world could this be, totally frustrating. Does anyone have any insights on this or had it happen to them, and if so, what was the remedy to fix it? Because it seems light the technicians are dumbfounded.

Have the truck scanned for codes....report back with any codes found. That would be first step.

This has been done twice, by 2 different mechanics. No answer to what's wrong

you said they just clear the codes... that's not how it works.

    scan OBD
    get codes
    diagnose & fix codes
    ???
    profit

We need what DTC's are stored in the ECM. If I were to guess it is going to be air pumps and valves. When they fail they are the most common thing that I see causing limp mode. But like already stated from above, the first step is to retrieve the codes so we can have a path of guidance.

    None....
A person that just clears the codes and sends you on your way is not a mechanic.

Take it to Autozone, O'reilly or any auto parts store that will scan it for free99 and give you codes. They wont clear them, but atleast you'll have them.

I had this happen on my gen2 taco
(Similar dash Christmas lights & limp mode & no cruise control)
It was the mass air flow sensor

OP, you need the code to isolate the issue
That's how I fixed my MAF
